So I have decided that my gynocologist just isn't enough. I love her to death but I feel like i'm getting nowhere! So, I have searched and searched and searched for an endometriosis specialist in Calgary. There is NONE. I don't want to have to travel to toronto or vancouver just for medical help [Of course I will if it ever becomec nessessary] I have however found a few endocrinologists. Can they help with endo? Is it like the same thing?

Endocrinologists work with hormones like the thyroid and hormone systems like that. I'm not sure that they work specifically for endo like you are looking for. They work with blood sugar issues, thyroid issues stuff like that. :(

THe first endo specialist I saw was also an endocrinologist and as meds do little to help me, was really a waste of money and time. However, other women have found great success with endocrinologists!! Here is a quick link to explain it a little:

I saw a great endocrinologist and she said there is nothing at all she could do for endo whatsoever.
I also saw the best surgeon in ontario here in downtown Toronto. His name is Dr. Nicholas Leyland and he is head of gynecology at St. Josephs Hospital. He can deal with pretty much any problem and is a Harvard grad and VERY skilled. However, you need to look into what happens when you look for doctors outside your province. If you do not have an ontario health card, you may not be able to see doctors not in Alberta. You could see if a referral would work, but I strongly doubt you can go from province to province from what I know. Do any gals on here know great doctors in Calgary? Good luck!

Hey Jamie!
I don't know much about Endocrinologists, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to see one, or even another really good gyno. As you know, some of us here tought we still had endo, but it was Pelvic Congestion! Also, I can't tell you how much better I feel now that I have some medicine to help me with my mental health. I think that I just was so stressed out and worried all the time... I couldn't focus, I was exhausted and I felt totally alone. I am not taking any more pain medicine... and I thought I would NEVER be able to even function if I didn't have something to take the edge off. I have more energy. I am walking and eating better. I think Endo has a whole bunch of symptoms that could be addressed. I know we don't want to be on medications forever, but I can't tell you how good it feels not to be hurting and tired all the time! It's amazing! You can even try talking to a General Physican... tell them about the endo and how you had surgery but they said they didn't find anything, but you are still in pain. Tell them about all you are dealing with.... with your sister and missing out on social events... they might be able to suggest a good Endo Speacilist, or maybe even someone you can talk to! Much love. I am thinking of you. I know this is so hard. xoxoxo

Hello :)
I am sure it wouldn't hurt to see an endocrinologist. Did your gyno do any hormone tests? Maybe an endocrinologist could check if any hormonal imbalances are contributing to your symptoms. I wish you well :)
