Hi ladies,
I've got a bit of a problem that I never thought would be a problem!! I'm praying every day that my period will start. So I was really hoping that you good people would be able to help me as all the dr's I've asked, not like I have a huge choice of them mind, just don't know. Anyhow, I was put on the zoladex injections last dec and had my last injection on the 01st of May so not including the 4 weeks after the last injection, I've been waiting for my period now for 10 weeks. I'm having a permanent period in the sense that I'm having horrendous cramps, awful pmt's, basically everything except for bleeding. I was hoping that the ladies that have had the injections, would you please be able to tell me how long it was until your periods came back and should I maybe go to my gp for something to bring my period on? But to be honest, I feel I've had enough crappy chemicals pumped through me. Any advice is greatly appreciated as always. Thanks guys! x Posted on 08/07/09, 07:08 pm |

Hi I am asking for info rather than giving advice - sorry! I am currently on the zoladex injections and will be having my last one next month. I wanted to know how your endometriosis responded to the treatment? My doctor has said that I have had a good response but I am not sure what I do next. Are you trying to get pregnant or just hoping to stop the endo from coming back? What are you doing treatment wise following the last zoladex - are you on the BC pill or anything?
I have read all the pamphlets and information I have on Zoladex and none of them say anything about when your period should return. I have a feeling it will be a while because it will take time for the drugs to get out of your system. Another thing i read was that if you enter real menopause - not just from the Zoladex that your periods wont return. Sorry I cant be more helpful - I am hoping someone can help because I am soon facing the same problem!! Good luck and let me know how things are going with you. Laura.

Hi NadT,
I just noticed ur post after submitting a similar one about zoladex treatment. My last injection with zoladex was the 9th of june and my husband and I ceased treatment after 3 months to try for another baby, however I have not had a period since then. I was told to expect a period after a month of treatment but nothing. Like u I am getting all of the symptoms of a period but no bleeding. I took a pregnancy test 3wks ago just in case but it was negative but still no period :( I just want to know whats going on! I have a Dr's app on monday so will mention this to him I just don't want to have to go on more hormones to kickstart my ovaries.. Have u had any luck in finding a solution to this problem? Thanks, Chloe :)

I wish I had advice to offer, but I only have the same question. I had my 1st lap in January, followed by 6 injections of Zoladex. My last Zoladex injection was July 16th and my 2nd lap was Aug 13th. My Dr said that everything looked great and as soon as my first cycle begins we can start ttc again. (We have been ttc for 3.5 years before I found out I have endo). I agree, I never thought I would be wishing for my cycle to start...but it just won't get here soon enough. My Dr said another 2 weeks...but I am still having 10 - 15 hot flashes a day. (less than before but still too many for my liking).
I was just wondering if you had any success and if your cycle resumed since your last post?

I was on zoladex injections for 5 months, because my endo was so bad, and I was putting off having a total hysterectomy. So I'm no help with regaining periods has I had to have complete hysterctomy straight away before I was taken off the zoladex.
But I do know what you are going through, the injections are awful having those implants put in your stomach every 4 weeks, total menapause brought on, hot flushes were unbearable. And after going through all my ops, I'm pretty sure my endo is back in my bowels, because the pain is the same as before, I was told that I would get days when it was painful due to being so severe.

Hey ladies,
Just wanted to thank you all for your posts and wanted to give you an update. The past 3 weeks have been hell and I haven't been able to leave the house etc etc, to be honest it was just like the injections all over again. So yest morn at 6am, I woke up with awful pains again so off I go to the loo and FINALLY, exactly 5 months and 2 weeks to the day of my last injection, my period has finaly started. So even though everythings hurting like hell right now I feel so relieved. It's as if I see it as the next step in my recovery now. Thats the way I'm tryin to look at it anyway. As for my next step treatment wise, the docs want me to do the injections again for another 6 months even though they didn't work and they want me to have the Mirena. I've told them no on both counts. I'm having physiotherapy, counselling and seeing a homoeoepathist who specializes in endo and honest to god girls, he knows more about it than any specialist I've ever met. So, taking things day by day now and trying to keep my chin up! Thank you all so so much for your help and support and I hope things have managed to move on for those of you who have been in the same boat as me. As I've said before, if anyone wants to chat more about this jst send me a mail and I'll help as much as I can Thank you all again girls and take care xxxxx
