Post op depression/crying

Physically I am feeling okay after my hyst but emotionally I'm a wreck. I am crying all the time, feeling just in general like crap about myself and I am supposed to hold off on the hrt as long as I can. Has anyone else gone through this that could offer some support? I don't want to give in and just feed the endo that was left with the hrt but I feel like I'm losing it.

I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone had!

Also, as a sidenote, I've developed a rash on my abdomen that is very much like a fine sandpaper. Since I am 4 days post op and haven't changed anything, it's a bit concerning to me. I can't reach my dr right now because their phone lines are down (great timing!) but I will keep working on it. Any suggestions/advice in the meantime are appreciated.

" I'm not sure if you have talked with your Dr yet but I had something like that and found out I'm allergic to adhesives. I cant have anything sticky or the glue rips off my skin. I also cried all the time after my hyst. I think it was cause a part of me was gone and the side effects of this going through it at a fairly young age. I hope you find your answers.xxxxxxx "

" Sheri,

I am in the process of determining if I am going to have a hysterectomy or not so I can't offer much advise on the surgery front. I have however have had two surgeries in the last year and a half. I too had the hormonal mood swings that really seemed to never end. The best advise I can give is to hang in there and start writing in a journal when you feel so down and find out if you have any triggers that might be causing the mood swings.

Also keep in mind that all your hormones in your body right now are kind of going crazy and that is totally normal, I know right now you have an overwhelming sensation of feelings but you will get through this!!

Speaking from a medical provider, I have a few questions about your rash. Is the rash hot to the touch? Does it hurt? I personally am allergic to adhesive and all tapes so that could be a possibility. I would keep calling your Dr until you get a hold of someone. If your Dr has an advise nurse or the hospital has an advise nurse that is also a good avenue to try.

Good luck and my prayers are with you
Tina "

" Thanks for all the replies! I have found that it is likely the betadine prep that caused the rash. When I had my staples out yesterday she checked it for me.

I ended up on the HRT a day and a half after posting this original one and let me tell you it's been a world of difference! I am like me again. Finally.

Now if those darn internal sutures wouldn't ache so bad as they absorbed I'd be doing pretty well. LoL! "
