Hello everyone ~ i'm new ~ ive had an ovarian cyst and endo. they removed my cyst and couldn't do anything for my endo because of where it was located- they were afraid of damaging me. So they gave me a shot which made me feel i was going through menopause ~ 6 months of hotflashes and night sweats !!! I finally got my period a month ago and was thrilled ~ but I'm at the point where i'movulating and soon to have my period and i feel pain again ~ is this common?? I'm unsure to go back to the dr. or just deal with it- i've had the pain now for 2 days ~ it's a low grade but constant ~ also my dr. mentioned i would have no problem conceiving when i want to have a baby ~ is this true?? any advice? i'm planning on getting married in may next year and want to conceive soon after - also she mentioned being pregnant would relieve symptoms~ any advice or anyone have any experiences??

hello. im still to be properly diagnosed but my dr said with all my symptomes hes sure its endo. Ive never had the shot im on birth control.
I get pains all month, they are usualy a numb pain and not to bad but the week leading up to my period they become more severe everyday. I get a low grade fever during this time, hot and cold sweats, tired, mood swings. my pain is in my lower back and also radiates down my legs. i get bowel problems near my period too. Ive never had a baby before but i have heard that this is meant to help endo, i think depening on where your endo is you can have children. My aunty has endo but hers was found after she had her first child, then all her problems started wheras my friends mum had endo before children and when she had them she hasnt had any problems since. To help with the pain use a hot water bottle, and take some painkillers till the pain is less.

Hello :)
Welcome to DS. I'm sure you will find many lovely friends here to listen to you and give you advice and support. I was also on Zoladex to stop my period, to try and get the endo under control. It induces early menopause. That is why you get the hot flashes etc. Then, when you go off it and get your period again, you're back to square one, unfortunately. They cannot keep your period supressed indefinitely, as the injections and hormones used have longterm side-effests such as loss of bone density, osteoporosis etc. As Amber said, a hot water bottle and anti-inflammatories may help when your period arrives. It is believed that pregnancy helps alleviate the symptoms of endo. It works on a similar principle to the shot you were getting. Your period stops during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and that helps to stop the endo from growing and spreading. Pregnancy is not a guaranteed cure for endo though. Many women still get their endo back after pregnancy. It depends on your individual case. I wish you all the best! Hope to chat soon! Love, Mich

It sounds like your surgeon did not give you a lot of information, which is not really acceptable.
Firstly, it is rare to not be able to remove endo from ANY area. I also had a surgery in 2006 where they said 'you had it on your ureter, but we can't remove it from there'. When I had a lap with a proper intelligent skilled doctor, he said it is a load of garbage....endo can be removed from ANYWHERE normally, bowels, cul de sac, ovaries, even lungs! If it can't be removed, the doc should have a great reason why (ie. you would need to remove the whole ovary etc.). As for fertility, again, the doctor would need to give you areason as to why you are allegedly infertile. Were your fallopian tubes or ovaries damaged? If not, simply having endo is not a reason you will be infertile. My doc removed TONS of adhesions and endo during a 2nd surgery and when I asked he said "you do not know if you are infertile until you try, but since you have no major obvious fallopian tube or ovarian problems, your chances are still good". I think you might need to ask the doctor for a copy of your OR report. Basically, it is negligent they did not remove the endo and you will continue to have worsening symptoms until they do (or find a suitable alternative to removing it).
