hi i must say it is great to see a husband care soooo much about his wife. surgery can be quite tough, will she have anyone that can help her during the first few weeks after surgery? a neighbour or friend or sister? she will need help with getting out of bed and going to the loo. i have had 3 ops myself, and my husband has been there through it all. everybody is different for some women the surgery takes alot out of them, for others its not to bad.
there are different treatments and medicines that can or maybe or some use/help to ease the pains. and to put your mind at ease it is quite normal for sex to be painful for us endo sufferers. the chances of having a baby if she has endo fertily tests can be done to see. remain positive and be ready for a change if she does have endo. there are alot of sites such as this site where she can go and talk to other women so she doesnt feel so alone. one site i found quite good is www.endo-resolved.com there you find many answers about endo and how it effects the body. dont let everything seep in just take what you need from the info as some can be rather scary. good luck with everything and we (my husband and i ) are here if you need us.

Well, the surgery is fairly easy to deal with. As for sex, yes that is normal. I had my surgery in 2005 and my endo has not grown back. I still have muscle spasms because of scar tissue. I am on the depo shot to help with that. The most pain I have now is muscle spasms in my leg, and sex is still uncomfortable.

She will definitely need some help after her surgery, someone needs to help her get in and out of bed, as well as make her some food etc the first couple of days. By day 3 or 4 you can function somewhat again (but no lifting for weeks!).
Sex is painful for those of us with endo in certain areas. A lot of patience and trying different things (like going slow, positions, etc.) will help. All of us wives feel HORRIBLE about not being able to have sex, so it is so nice to hear a husband's point of view on here (We all say to each other 'he seems ok with it, but I feel like a failure as a wife!'). There is a lot she can do in terms of diet and alternative treatments if the surgery isn't completely successful. Make sure she asks about it on here.... Good surgeons have told me the only way to know if you are fertile is to try and if nothing happens in 6 months see a doctor. Many women with endo have children. During her surgery she should ask them to do a 'tubal dye test' which will determine if her fallopian tubes are working. It is important in terms of fertility. And keep up the amazing work! The world needs more involved, curious and kind husbands like you!!!

Hi there Marine! You are such a sweet husband, your wife is a lucky gal.
There are many different treatment options, but unfortunaltely, there is no cure..yet. I recommend she finds a gynocologist, preferrably someone that has had experience treating women with endometriosis. After I had surgery, I could'nt move around very well for a few days , and I relied on my family for help. I would not want to go through that alone. If you cant be there for her, maybe a friend,or family member can help. I take Tramadol for the pain, and use a heating pad, alot. Thank you for serving our country. Good luck to you and your wife. Take care, Lovebyrd

Hello :)
It is so refreshing to see a husband who is concerned about his wife, and is making an effort to learn more about her illness in order to support her better. Wow! I am so sorry for the pain your wife is going through. I know it must be hard for you to see her this way. To answer some of your questions, she will get pain meds to help her after the surgery. She will be in a bit of pain afterward, but will have to rest for about a week. She should recover fully within 4 weeks. The painful sex should improve after surgery. I hope everything works out. Stay strong!

im strongly against surgery! i had 9 obgyn's tell me to have a hystorectomy, but i was so young and wanted babies that i said no way, and i also found out that having them cut the tissue out by having a laproscoptomy can decrease your chances of having a baby by up to %80. I would highly suggest birth control seasonale is what i took, and when that stopped working i took the lupron injections for 6 months... i was pain free and back to me for 2 years and then got pregnant with my little princess. Now im happier then ever, i still get sick every ONCE in a while but its nothing more than cramping every blue moon.
hurting during sex goes with endometreosis but will get better with lupron
