Endometriosis Support Group
Endometriosis is a common medical condition where the tissue lining the uterus is found outside of the uterus, typically affecting other organs in the pelvis. The condition can lead to serious health problems, primarily pain and infertility. A major symptom of endometriosis is pain, mostly in the lower abdomen, lower back, and pelvic area.

I have had 4 lap surgeries in less than a year. Ever time they found either a ovarian cyst/scar tissue or adhesions or Endometriosis. EVERY SINGLE TIME. My doctor that I have now performed 2 of the surgeries and one of them was with the best endo doctor in the state. I have been in pain for almost 2 yrs now and I am ready for change! I am tired of being overweight and lazy-which is caused from stress and the level 10 pain that I am in everyday. My husband and I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE KIDS, no matter what anyone has said we have already decided and that is final. So why won't the doctor give me a hysterectomy? I have explained to him a million times that if he doesn't do the procedure no matter what my husband is going to get a vasectomy. So what is the hold up? Is it because he is afraid he might make the wrong decison? Even though we know exactly where the pain is coming from. Or is it because my husband and I are so young( Me 21 and him 27)? I am going to get a second opinion just for my doctor... it is to make him feel more comfortable I guess. But I know in my heart that this is the right decsion. Does anyone have any advice about maybe asking the right questions or getting it through to the doctor. or does anyone know of any great doctors in Arizona...Phoenix or Tucson? Please I need some advice I am at the end of my rope. You can read my page to give you a little bit more knowledge about what I have been through and what is going on right now. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ADVICE!!!

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
HOWEVER i also know why your doctor is refusing...there are actually 2 reasons...I too asked my Dr. for a hysto... because i was sick of the pain and just wanted to be my old self again (before the endo hit). And just like yours my Dr. said no. I was just as frustrated as you- and i asked him...and his reasoning was this #1, he felt that at my age that i couldn't be 100% sure that i didn't want a family & #2 if he did the surgery and then i decided that we did want a family i could actually sue him for doing it even though i wanted it. (i know that seems wrong like he is only looking out for himself but read on) I also didnt want kids, felt that it was enough - just me and my hubby and our dogs and cats... BUT I changed my mind... i know it seems like you are 100% sure, i felt so too, but then the want to be a family and have children hit...and i thought back to asking for a hysto and i am thankful that he didn't do it. You can always seek another Dr. who will do it...but please please try to find another option.. i know it seems like you have exhausted all of them...but look to another Dr to see if they have a different insight- i would not want to see you get this and then a few years down the road you and your hubby decide that you 2 do indeed want to have kids. Hugs to you and i am here if you need to talk....
I wish you the best of luck. I am from arizona and the best doctors I ever dealt with were at the U of A hospital..
So besides the fertility factor, you have to consider the question of whether it will help as much as you hope. Surgery is a big deal. I know you're terribly frustrated but at the same time, you don't want to run into a different type of problem that causes you as much or more grief.
Another thing to consider: some women do not do well with hysterectomies. You would likely require hormone replacement therapy...and if the endo is elsewhere in your body, I wonder if you would still run into problems.
I am so sorry you are dealing with this, and I know so many of us on the board understand your frustration. I tried pulling out the stops and did all the alternative things at the same time...and they do seem to help if done all at once.
Also, I felt better during pregnancy. Not that that is a cure, but I can honestly say that the 4-7 months were good ones. Some women say it eases the endo for some time. I wish I'd been one of them.
I'm not saying not to do it, but I am saying that when I started to read about it, I understand why my doctor is hesitant--and I am 39.
s through this whole thing...keep saying OH YOU MIGHT CHANGE YOUR MIND, NO NO NO I KNOW for a fact that I DO NOT want to have kids and I DO NOT want to start a family because the stupid doctor tells me it's a good idea. I hate hearing that. All I know is that if it costs me a million to 2 million dollars to have someone do it, I will me more than willing to pay that much. I feel that my quality of life is more important than raising a kid. I don't feel like it is fair to the kid...because I know that I will still have the pain after I have him or her, and I will feel terrible because of not being able to care for them. I don't think that it is fair to the child to not have there mother around because they are in pain all the time specially if I can help not make that happen in the first place. I love kids and I have a lot of respect for people who have kids, and I specially feel for moms that have to life with this illness. And I know that my husband and I would be great parents but, we like the freedom and we like to have the life where we can pick up everthing and go to Hawaii and surf for 2 yrs without worrying about anything. That's why We don't want kids. We love them but they are not for us. And as far as this pain I can't take it anymore and I HAVE to find a doctor that will do this procedure for me. I am going to a Chronic Pelvic Pain Clinic at the U Of A, but I had a recomendation for another Doctor who is very open minded about doing hysterectomies on young women and he does volenteer work for people down in Mexico who can afford treatment...so I have a feeling that he will be more open to my situation and more willing to listen. So just wish me luck and I hope that this gives you a better idea about who I am and what I am about. I sincerly from the bottom of my heart thank you for all your advice and I will be praying for all of you guys to get better and find relief from this pain. You are in my prayers

I do not believe that the doctor won't perform for insurance money. Doctors here perform more of these operations than in Europe.
Please recognize that this is a controversial issue. Read about side effects.
Please Google hysterectomy side effects and read carefully, all.
