Discussion:
Recurring Encephalitis?

I was diagnosed with E after passing out in a clinic waiting room while away from home. Got a costly ride to the nearest hospital which was out of state. (Try not to do that -- makes collecting your insurance a double nightmare.) Well, I hung in with anti-inflamatories for about a month and things cleared up. I figured I was free of it. ... until about five days ago. Same symptoms, not as severe ... head ache (not the normal thing), body aches, and spacy -- also very low blood pressure (but that's a different topic). Question: has anyone out there had E, basically got over it, and then come down with it again like four or five years later?

Thanks -- dave

And... don't go purchasing a remedy over the internet. "

" Someone out there may correct me if I am wrong! To the best of my "Knowledge", there is "NO KNOWN VACCINE/PILL/ANECTDOTE", to cure ENCEPHALITIS. I've had St. Louis/LaCrosse Encehalitis since 5 July 1962. You will only be a "Sucker", if someone is telling you they have a cure for Encephalitis. I am 60+ years young, and I have done extensive research on Encephalitis, and I will tell you, as of this writing, there is no known CURE for this disease. Take Care/God Bless. "

" No known cure. This is correct, but it does go away (if you are lucky). I was, at least with regard to encephalitis. I thought I had a recurrance, but it was not that. Turned out to be leukemia, but after six rounds of chemo a good 11 months later -- I am a survivor!!!! Thanks -- dave (dbrowncsuaedu) "

" I've been told this thing never completely leaves your body. Pretty much we have to live with it for the rest of our lives.

" Check it out over the Internet and I think you will find the consensus is that it does not have to be a life-long thing. It has not been for me. The reason for my post last May (2009) was that I had some bad headaches that I thought was like my past E, and my GP doc suggested that that might be the case. However, a spinal tap followed up by a bone marrow biopsy showed that what I had was AML leukemia -- bad stuff. No inference that E leads to L -- two completely different things. Anyway, thru six rounds of chemo, etc. no recurrence of E (although just about everything else got me). So, have no fear -- tough it out and take it easy until you fully recover and then get on with it -- you will be fine. If you want the details of my ordeal with L, then hit my website -- http://BibleThought.org/ at the bottom of the home page it is called "No Visitors Please." My e-mail is on the site, so please let me know wha tyou think about it. May God bless all of you. "
