I am new to this group but just this week have found that I am now an empty nester. My daughter had talked about moving in with her boyfriend and just decided it was the right time the other night. I knew it was coming but it has thrown me into a terrible depression. I don't really understand that pain since she was not home much anyway. I am a single mom so I don't have anyone to support me in this. I can't bear to see her empty room and all her things gone. I know I have to learn to accept this but I am really struggling right now. I am not sure how to make a life for myself alone.

I understand how your feeling, I too have just been dealt with not only one of my children leaving home but both within the same month. why didn't someone prepare us for the grief you go thru?

It is just gut wrenching to experience this. I feel like I have to establish a whole new identity but I don't even know how to go about it. Two children at one time is a lot. I know it is an adjustment we have to make and we just can't imagine it ever not hurting. I know that it will just take time. Hang in there.
