Hi,
I am 44 and a single parent. My son is 19 and at University. He stays with me four nights a week and at his dad's 3 nights, but he often calls during the day to see me as I am ill and disabled. I am a trained counsellor but cannot work due to ill health and disabilities.
I am so upset and crying because my son is going in digs in January and I am so worried about him and how much I will miss his presence. I'm missing him already and don't know how to cope.I don't mind being on my own because I am quite a loner, but this is breaking my heart. I don't want to turn into a mum that's constantly phoning him, etc. I'm looking for likewise people on here or just people who can give me support and advice.

" Hi, Welcome and join the crowd columbo321! Read over all the posts on here and I'm sure you'll feel you're not alone. This is a traumatic event in the life of a mom! My son(only child) is also at a university and has lived there. This is his fourth year. It does get better with time. I see you're from Oldham...my mom is from Oldham area. I don't have many relatives left over there anymore, but I've been there a few times. My aunt lived in Shaw for many years and then Royton. Hugs to you. "

" Thanks, Momoonec... for your answer.
I'm feeling a bit better now. My son was ill with the swine flu - he had it quite bad and it was scary for me has he has asthma - inherited from me ! it made me think of him leaving and a I emotional.
I'm thinking of moving away from Oldham when my son leaves for good. I want to live somewhere warm. "
