High-dose Vitamin C Lowering Blood Pressure

High-dose vitamin C has been recommended for EDS, to provide collagen support, but given the low blood pressure that the disorder often causes, maybe that will change. My own blood pressure hasn't gotten very low lately, possibly because I had cut back on the vitamin C.

" I take 2000 mg of Ester-C a day and it has done wonders for me. In addition to EDS I also have Addison's Disease which requires me to be on prednisone probably for the rest of my life. The Ester-C fits in well because not only does it combat the high blood pressure and poor immune strength caused by chronic steroid use, it has reduced my overall inflammation and pain. I wasn't aware that it is recommended for collagen support. My husband found a Harvard-Stanford double-blind study that found definite anti-inflammatory benefits of Vitamin C. My kidneys are shot from taking to many NSAIDS, so I hadn't been on any anti-inflammatories for a couple years. Vitamin C has definitely helped on that front. As for causing hypotension, I still take my bp meds along with the Ester-C and I've been completely stable and in normal range. So, who knows? "
