My daughter's skin has gotten progressively worse over the past 18 months. We see an allergist who I trust 100%, but we're at the end of our rope! Her eczema is on her face and extremities. It's causing her self-esteem to fall.
I'm ready to try a different route. We've visited a large local health food store...we've done a wheat-free diet, fish oils, probiotics, etc... Has anyone ever used a natural or homeopathic doctor? Posted on 02/10/09, 09:02 am |

i have tryed everything under the sun, unfortunatly for me iam rarely eczema free and when its really bad iam almost disabled.
some things i would suggest is jhonsons baby oil in the bath and a good moisturiser for afterward applied to damp skin. its very imporatant to help her in feeling good about herself when she doesnt want to wear short sleaves etc. dont make her that will make her feel alienated let her make her own choice. also dont comment like oh darling your skin looks bad to tdat you need to put creams on because this will make heer think "if mum and dad notice other ppl will". not saying you shouldnt encourage her to put her creams on. also i assume she is younge so this is the best time to push her into a routine of washing and creaming (moisturishing)daily even twice a day if her skin is bad. i really do wish you the best and i have alot more advice if you wish to ask me anything please mail me or reply here i have knowlege on the best creams etc.

Yes, I messed with derms and other docs for yrs. Went to a naturopath, a good one!! And within 2 weeks eczema was 50% gone.
I would strongly advise against oils and moisturizers. if you'll notice, every one here who will argue with me says they still have eczema and never expect to get rid of it. They are basicly creamed, lol, couldn't resist.

Also the fish oil, never did much for me, but, it's the little things, so, it's hard to give credit to one thing. But, if you are using the capsule kind you could be adding to the problem. Only use the pasturized liquid versions that have to be refrigerated. Know what I mean? Goes bad.
Wanted to add on any doc. If you walk in they say you have eczema my looking at you. prescribe a bunch a creams, soaps, lotions, send you on your way. Run from them, really. These people should have their license yanked seriously. A good one will discuss your diet, they will take stool samples, saliva test, blood test, they will want to find why. As you should want. Stool sample for me was very revealing. Then I had something to go back to during treatment. To see what was working. And in the long run, the naturopath was way cheaper.
