Hey as a real bona fide African (South) I thought I better join. Maybe my fellow countrymen need me in the fight against this disease. Although I live many thousands of miles from the nearest reported outbreaks I guess I may be the closest DS has to somebody who can report from ground zero. Unfortunately although we do have malaria, cholera, dysentery, endemic tuberculosis and one of the highest rates of HIV infection in the world I have yet to see an Ebola survivor. According to the stats in the overview there should be about 300 of them worldwide and you never know who life may put in your path. Thanks anyway for pointing out this support group to me. If chance puts any bored Ebola survivors in my path I’ll know where to send them. It may be quite some wait.

I would have about a million questions for an Ebola survivor. I know that sounds selfish but I am infinitely curious as they have no known origin. There is an outbreak and then it just disappears... intriguing.

I find it fascinating that there is a support group for a disease that you cannot talk to others while suffering. It is like having a support group for people falling out of a plane to their death. It is ridiculous, how in the world can you talk about it? That is what is funny, not ebola. Just the fact that why in the world would there be a support group for this???

AGREED! No one here is making fun of Ebola, but the idea of having a support group on the internet - especially in view of the nature of this disease....well the concept is kind of mind blowing!

I'm still trying to come to terms with it in so many ways. If there is a survivor or even a worker who has spent time with Ebola victims my heart and gratitude and awe go out to you.
