" I do that, too; I need to know that I'm not gaining or losing so I know that I'm "okay". No advice really, but I do understand.

Hey guys, from your experience is it always bad to have a scale, or is there a way to use one responsibly? "

" I unfortunately cannot keep a scale in my home. I know they say once a week or even once a month is "responsible". For me, I am not able to stick to responsible no matter what.

The only time I weigh is when I am at the doctors. And I can tell you that in the past few months I was very ill (not related to ED) and was at the doctors a lot and that sparked some desire in me to "know" all the time.

The last time I bought a scale, I could not get rid of it on my own. A friend came over and help me get rid of it.

It is a struggle. You are definately not alone. I hope you find a healthy solution for yourself. "

" I understand the scale dilemma. I have gone long periods of time without know my weight and then periods in which I can't seem to go more than a few hours without knowing my weight. I know for myself that I cannot own a scale and stay on track with recovery.
One thing that I have done in the past to know that I was not getting out of control was leaving it up to my doctor and dietician at the time to know my weight and to let me know if they are concerned about my weight. There were times when I got really freaked out about perceived weight gain and clothes fitting differently and I would ask if I was actually gaining weight and if so why. I did not ask what the number was but instead what was going on, if anything, and I was able to discuss my concerns instead of reacting and having behaviors.
I hope that you are able to find something that works for you! "

" I stopped weighing myself months ago. I just started bc I am putting on weight. i was obese, Im an over eater.

for me I will not let the scale stress me out !!! i will not. it just a tool in my recovery...

if its stressing you out, then you have to rethink this.... "

" I haven't had a scale in years. I find they just make me obsess about my weight even more, and that makes it harder to eat. I only use a scale when I'm seeing my doctor, but even then I don't look at the number. "
