i just binged on halloween candy. i was doing great. only binged 3 times in the last few weeks...

ok i feel like a failure, feel terrible.

i have so much to be thankful for. I know I have a good life, a full life, and I am really happy... why do i do this.

Im trying to think of what advise i would give you all... stress? anxiety? I feel such relief after i eat sugar... why? what relief do I need?

I hope Im not whining, Im just venting. make a plan for tomorrow... right?

what can i say..... down is down and up is up...

" What's been really helpful to me is to have phone numbers on speed dial of trusted friends that you can call to be honest with. To call when you are tempted to act out on things. It's very hard to pick up the phone and ask for help sometimes, but I find that when I do it my friends can usually bring me up, or at least distract me until the urge passes. "

" hmmm, you would probably tell us that it's okay, slips happen, to keep fighting, and to pick ourselves up and try again. And please be a friend to yourself and get rid of that Halloween candy; if it's your kids', they can hide it: :)

Want to join me in my goal of "getting back on track" tomorrow? I had a slip today, too, and need to try, try again. We can help each other.

From your posts, it sounds like you're doing great in your recovery, btw. This is just a little slip.

Hugs,
Ali "

" I also used to use that "chat" feature a lot, and I mean A LOT! Chat on facebook, chat with anyone who I knew would be helpful and keep me out of my hamster head. "

" WHOA! First of all, if the candy is too tempting and you need to get rid of it, like out of the house get rid of it, I'll take it! Yes, I am a candy whore.. who knows, maybe it's the sugar thing for me too, but I'll take it off your hands if need be. C.O.D. no worries :)

DJ Squirrel is right! When I was still cutting, I remember it was 4am and JJ was on duty and I was freaking out. And there was a girl on here and I just kept chatting away, poor thing finally had to cut me off b/c she had to go to work, or get rid of me.... but it was just enough time to kick that urge.

And pffffffffffff, I am usually always on line!!! "

" I don't have any advice, because I've never binged or anything. But I do want to say this:

It's OK. You made a mistake, you slipped up. Would you berate other people for having a mini-relapse of ED behaviors? I think not. And failure is a verb, not a noun. =) "

" Yazz- I really read somewhere that sugar triggers something in the brain that makes you want more.
Don't be stalled by this. It happens to me all the time. I feel like a failure. Like I am constantly sabotaging myself. This is totally what I do..not saying YOU do it...but when I give in to a binge- It is usually because I have tried not to eat all day...not saying you did this intentionally but maybe you didnt have enough to eat that day...or maybe you we're really tired...sometimes fatigue will make you eat more. PLUS...it is Halloween...it IS OK to indulge just a little in treats on special occasions...it doesnt seem that way to ANY of us but I know its true. hang in there. "
