I wonder if ppl with ED's are considered high risk for swine flu since we seem to have such low resistance to whatever's going around.

Have any of you gotten the vaccine, or ARE you getting it? I'm really undecided due to all the debate surrounding the issue.

" I would get it since I have a wonkey immune system anyway, but the pharmacies won't do the flu shot for me, b/c I have a neurological disorder...I have to see about getting it done elsewhere. "

" Good question slim. I haven't given it much thought, however, I have never even had the regular flu shot. Humph. Damned if I know. Let me know if you find out anything. "

" It is my understanding that until more vaccines are available, only health care workers and pregnant women can get them. There is such a shortage. That shortage is going to end soon (I'm not sure of the date yet). At that point, everybody can get the vaccine. "

" I just got it on Friday via my doctor even though there is a shortage as I'm considered high-risk. She said the sooner I get it the better and offered it to me so I took it. In addition to physically high-risk I also live in a dorm where people are sick/getting sick and there are people in my classes that are doing the same. In addition to my ED and problems from that I have asthma and it's been acting up lately as I've been waking up in the middle of the night unable to breathe - so that's more of a risk.

I really didn't think much into getting it. For me it was black and white. Get and prevent/lessen the risk of getting H1N1 or risk getting the H1N1 flu and getting really bad complications. I mean having the asthma alone was enough to get it especially because it has an impact on the lungs.

So that's me. "

" I got the regular flu shot and plan to get the one for H1N1 when it becomes available. Because of dancing, I come into contact with lots of people and all of their germs so I tend to get sick a lot.

Slimpics, what are your concerns? I haven't done much research on why NOT to get the flu shot and now I'm curious. "

" Hi Shelley, I have already been given the regular flu shot and have been told that I am also going to be offered the one for swine flu,but they took some bloods from me back at the end of May, we have just been told that the results were filed away and its only just been picked up that they showed I have pernicous aneamia, so at the moment, they are trying to sort that out before giving the swine flu,I also think that we are slightly behind in the UK,does anyone know of any side effects of having this vaccine, I always have the normal flu shot and that changes every year and I have never had a problem with that.
Hope that you are okay hugs Michelle UK "

" Michelle, many are getting the shot back home, in NY and I personally have not heard of any side effects from the shot. "
