I've been bulimic for about 2 and a half years, maybe 3
Recently it's got bad again. Like I cant even drink a glass of orange juice without making myself sick, and sometimes I'm sick without even making myself Does anyone know any foods that might be easier for me to eat? Like flavourless stuff or anything? Thanks for any advice it means a lot :) xx Posted on 10/21/09, 06:10 pm |

Smoothies work good for me, I get nutrients and can drink them quick without thinking of it...I have a touchy tummy and these work....I just use frozen fruit, fat free yogurt and soy milk and blend...I don't know if this is too much for you but it's one of the things that works for me.

Hey there... alright, been in your shoes. I can suggest somethings that I have found to be safe for me. Saltines, w/ or w/o salt, graham crackers... little bit of jelly dash of pb... but when I am doing as bad as you (that wasn't a jab) but throwing up w/o even trying or making yourself. I will nibble on animal crackers, sometimes small amounts of cheese, steamed brocoli, dry cereal (love). Flavorless... aim for Rice Cakes, can't get any less flavor than some of those (sarcasm). IF you can drink, try pedealyte, if smoothies are too thick for you, (sorry Chef, those are hard for me)... have you found anything YOU LIKE TO EAT ? That you can keep down? Perhaps it's eating the simplest things in smaller amounts. I only speak from what has helped me.

Everyone is probably different, but some things that are easy for my tummy to tolerate that also have nutrients are: bananas, toast/English muffin, Egg Beaters, rice with a little salt and lite margarine, baked potatoes, dry cereal, chicken soup.

I have been in your shoes many of times hun.....here is what happens when purging happens often... or if you heavily restrict your diet: the Acids in your stomach go crazy without the presence of food inside of it... when there is nothing for those stomach acids to work on...they begin tearing at the walls of your stomach... which can cause ulcers, sores, rips, tears... etc on your stomach walls...which may cause acid indigestion.. bowel movement problems.. a lot of gas that starts to form and may cause you to burp a lot... these are all signs that you may have a problem with your stomach, most likely related to the purging..
Now... i have recently went to the doctors for stomach pain.. and everything related to bulimia... for example, low potassium, low electrolytes... and my stomach is way out of wack... and they told me a bland diet is good for the tummy... nothing with acid in it, so yea orange juice , anything with citrus, things high in caffeine or niccotine can upset your stomach more than you think possible. Foods that have been sitting well in my stomach... just a little at a time. you don't have to sit down and eat a whole meal at once... even something as small as a piece of toast every couple of hours to keep that balance! But things like toast, broth, jello, granola bars, bananas, fruit juice like apple or cranberry...i wouldn't venture too much into the orange, pineapple, or anything with high acids because it may or may not upset your stomach and make you feel sick! you would be suprised at the number of things that can affect your stomach! you could also try plain rice with a little butter and salt on it... white is the easiest on the stomach.. nothing like wild rice or rice pilaf... ummm you could try saltine crackers and a little juice or a hot cup of tea to calm your tummy. Start out small and make little goals for yourself even if you have to say to yourself...... i-----------------your name--- am going to eat a piece of toast and a half of a banana... then forget about it... move on to the next goal or keep focused on the things you love to do...
