Anorexia help...

I am new to this anorexia thing. I moved from one ED to another. From binging to anorexia. I just need someone to talk to that is going through this too. Not many people in my life seem to understand. I guess I don't really either. I am scared of the thoughts in my head that I am finally able to control my food now. Is that a normal thought to have with anorexia? Thanks in advance!

" Hi Lovely April, I am sorry that you are struggling at the moment. I do understand how you feel, and how hard it is for the people in our lives to grasp this illness. There is no logic to anorexia, so trying to explain it to those around you can be incredibly difficult and frustrating. I definately think that the feeling of control with food is all very much part of this disease. I know for me, when everything else is overwhelming, that is the one thing I feel I do have control over. Unfortunately though, the ED starts being the one in control and not us. The best advice I can give you is to seek professional advice, and grasp on to any help offered. This illness is so isolating, but you dont have to go it alone. Please feel free to reach out to me any time. We may be on opposite sides of the world, but thanks to the internet, it brings us all that much closer to each other. Try and stay strong and treat yourself well, you are worth it. My best wishes to you. "

" Hi,
I can totally relate to what you're saying. I've had different kinds of eating disorders, most recently bulimia, but lately I have been restricting and can feel myself falling into the anorexia thoughts. I definitely think that getting some professional help, having someone to talk to about this, is really important. Since you say that you are new to this, I really hope that you can get some help and get some healthier behaviors in place before it goes too far. Best wishes, and I'm here if you need to talk. "

" Hi :)

I'm pretty new at facing ED, but for most of my life I've been a very mindless eater (just tried to get the eating thing finished as quick as possible because it made me so uncomfortable). That meant I gained weight pretty steadily, with breaks of starving myself to make my weight go back down.

I guess on one hand I was a compulsive overeater and then I would switch to Anorexic thoughts for a few months eating virtually nothing but plain popcorn. So my weight varied a lot.

Now my self cutting has somehow joined forces with the anorexia side of things and I cut if I eat more than 500 calories or so. That's got me pretty scared, but in a way I also feel weirdly in control like you mentioned. My fear of cutting keeps the anorexia going strong, although when I slip I seem to need more and deeper cuts to handle it on the other side. But I totally relate to what you said about feeling in control somewhat.

I wish you all the best! "
