I've been in IP for months, n i am a day patient now... but im kinda unerved at the fact that 2 months into my treatment, a new day patient turned up... It was Georgie... a girl who used to go to my school, who was in my year!! (we both crapped ourselves until we tlked, now were good m8s) but thats not the point...

before i got admitted, i was an outpatient with my home team, and one appointment, i was walking through the door as a girl was walking out... and that was natasha... another girl who was in my year at the same school... i thought... so thats 3 cases of anorexia in the same year of the same school...

We have just had a new patient as an inpatient in the unit im at now, and she is a year younger than me, but i recognized her... and why??? coz she was in the year below me at the same bloody school!! so... thats 4 cases of anorexia in the same school (and thats just 2 year groups!!)

Is it just me or is that really worrying??? I never expected to meet anyone i knew on the anorexic circuit, and ive met 3 people i know!!!... Should the school be made aware of this?? I mean none of us 4 go to the school anymore... but... its really worrying!!!

" That's a little freaky, but I'm not sure if it's that unusual. I was anorexic as a teen, as was my sister and my best friend across the street. (My dad thought there must be something in the water, and he was serious.) I can think of three other girls in my class who were anorexic as well, and a few of my other friends had what I would call "disordered eating".

Perhaps your old school - and most schools - could do with a little more ED awareness training.

Great to hear that you're an outpatient now. How are you doing?

Ali "

" glad to have you back, hope IP went well.
I dont think its that unusual, 3 of my close friends have had eating problems although I dont know anyone else in my year who went and got help. Its generally something that people dont talk about and hide from other people and its only when you admit it and get help that you realise that you are not alone! "

" Not too unusual. Recently, just at my very tiny ballet school there were three girls (including me) with anorexia. Poor Les (director) I thought he was going to stroke out on us. "
