I WANT EVERYONE TO SEE HOW I REALLY SEE THISNGS (Things) THESE ARE NOT MISSPELLED WORDS THIS IS THE WRELA (REAL) WAY THAT I PROCESS THINGS IN MY EYES, MIND AND HANDS THAT WROTICGE (WROTE) IT ON PAPERS.: PLEASE READ TO THE END FOR IT WILL HELP YOU NOT GET UPSET WITH MY GRAMMER (Grammar) AND SPELLING.
Being dislexic: has not made my life easy, It is a challange, and having a reading problem made it even harder/ If it was not for the bible at 7 yrs old that my grandmother gave me, i would never have learned how to read. I have read it so many times and yet i could not quote a scripture out of it because there are more then one kind of dislexic. Most think it is with the eyes but when you were born with it and no one for over 42yrs went un Diegnosed, YOU learn to just do the best you can do. Having Comprehention Dislexia has destroyed Career oppertunitys for me, it has stoped me from being a Kindergarden Teacher, to leave me to only be a Childcare giver, That is why I said to you that when this is all over, I would reather be a fitness trainer, I can get a tutor when i go to school, to hlep me or my children if i do it on line. There still is not enough information out there on this subject they still belive it is with the eyes and it is not. it is in the brain. Example: What i think, what my eyes see and what my hand feels are all diffrent. My eyes see's the word Discussion, My Mind see's The word Discussion, My and Feels the word Dicussoim, Most think it is the letters. aeouc look the same bpqdh Look the same mnvxw Look the same however CAPITBULS... STAND OUT TO ME, IF PEOPLE WOULD QUIT GETTING MAD AT PEOPLE FOR CAPITUBLES THEN WE COULD UNDERSTAND WORDS BETTER, AS YOU CAN SEE I HAVE NOT MADE ANY MISTATES THAT I CAN SEE BECAUSE THESE CAPITUBLES LOOK DIFFRENT TO US THEY ARE PROMT LETTERS. Then next thing I would like others to understand about this illness today since i will be writing a lot is this... or any sponcer who will be working with me.... YOU might say, I want to to read page 81, However... 8653 all look the same to me, 2579 all look the same to me, when my brain prossess informatino... my letters in my head get messed up so what you might say is 81, I just did page 61 out of confusishone. The next and last thing is this, the brain scrambles infromation, in a word or sentence. Example: Sally went store to ans she foun ad a blcka ha tot go to town for dmminer. She alos boaght a pkne dress with whtie show'ses. She will have dinner at the restranuante tonight at 7:53pm. When this should have said. Sall is going to dinner at the restraunte at 7:35pm, She had gone out and bought a Hat and pink dress with white shoes. What is simple to some is so confussing to read that it frustrates others, it causes them to Hate me!, out of not understanding that i have no idea how to use the common grammer or the sentence.. and some of tmy words will be runons.. and some will be so tiwisted that they are unable to figures out or have to read read it for i do not understand.... ! "" ? ... ( ) the placement of this to make the sentence come alive. So when you want this to be placed in the correct spot, I have no I dea! I just take a guess at the sound of my voice. I have learned more over the last 3 yrs thanks to my son in law then ever in my life. on Spelling, and not having all my lines fall into the next line with out breaks inbetween words. now i use the ENTER button and seprate my words but still only to stop a converstation and move on to the next. I hope this expalinas The problem most are having with me, I hope this helps me find the right sponcer that will dael with me. Well, I think this covered it all... I am not spell checking so everyone can see that I am a exceplent speller in my mindm but my hand dose not allow the correct womrds to be made. Now if i spell check i want to explain this... example: scycoligest: psychologist: mycologist ???? Phycoliguest sycolagest veternearingn: veterinarian: veternerian vetaranearin A spelling check can not figure out what word i am trying to use so when i let the spell check do it for me, the problem is UNLESS I PICK THE WRITE WORD.... IT IS THE WRONG WORD. Well that concludes this... Please everyone I know it is hard but understand, I am hear because my life needs fixing just like eveyrone else and what you do on a simple day takes my life 10time reading it to figure out what you have said or ment, i have to think on it for a few mints or hours some times dsay bevoref I can grab the real meaning.. Example: It takes me 1 to 3 days to prosses information, were ostm can do it in just a few secounds.. it can take me days to understand what one minght mean. Sounds funny but it dose... did you know that 61% of americans are dislexic.. I will leave you with that... I find often when I need to spell words, I have no idea of there spelling. It's as if the word just went in to my head and out the other side. When I do try to spell it I can mostly see its wrong, but have no idea of how to correct it. Also when I am typing a sentence I am positive it is correct. Even when I look back over it looks right, but it's not! If someone else reads it aloud to me its a mess. I am now relying on my confident reader to read every thing I write back to me, and of course spell check.
You say that 61% of Americans are dyslexics. I don't understand that. I have never met anyone in person who is like me. Sure I've had a few people say they are dyslexic, but when I enquire deeper its because they occasionally get there "B" and "D" mix up or something stupid like that. Is it because these Dyslexics are to embarrassed to tell any one? Or am I just much more dyslexic than most dyslexics? Or are these numbers some how wrong? I find it a very lonely world out there when no one really understands you. They can't see you have a handicap when they look at you, like they can e.g. a paralyzed person in a wheel chair. You just look lazy and dumb. If you try and explain it seems to make things even worse.

Thank you for sharing, So many people are poor readers, when they took the Phonics out of the school system in the early 70's did not think we needed this, it messed up thousands of kids in the first to 4th grade.. then they found out the test scors where so poor thay in 1974 put it bak in and has been there ever since.
Also in the past thy forsed us left handers to be right no matter what for they did not have the equipment to deal with a left hander in the prosses it caused many kids to become dyslexic because are brain could not ever understand we are using the wrong hand to are brains.. this is so true.. well i learned to use both hands because i needed to get things right and i self taught myself. but it was not until i like i said got into college that a libarian noticed this lack of skill and every day after school she would take her time and help me... if it was not for her i would not have made it. i was called stupid all the way though school, in reading classes from 1st grade to almost the 12th grade, i was in speeches up until my 5th grade, and in high school i was placed in the LD classes.. and yet i made strait A's while others were making F's and D's.. one was too hard one was too easy... i could read at college levale in the 5th grade but i could not spell or write.... but little by little the negitive words destroyed my personality, enough to figh myself to use only my looks to get friends... in the end.... I had no friends..... because i did not like my self for who they were all trying to make me be. now i wanted to be a kindergarden teacher so bad this was my goal, i was great with kids, but i lost out on college 5 times and became a in home childcare giver.... for ever job i have had it only took 3 months or so for everyone to find out that there was something wrong.. i was a pre school teacher and i got away with it for a while but then paper work started to show the truth... i even had a factory job but again that showed up when i had to write the amount on the big crates.. oops... my numbers were backward... fired 3 days later.... i worked as a chashier for many years... people never even new... but around 32 things started to change, in me and the stress go so bad with my husband and i that it started up again... leaving me not to be able to see the diffrents.... even my counting had started to change.. i new then i had to stop.. so back in the home and started my own cleaning job did great until all the cleaning chem took partake in my sickness.. in the end it took almost 12yrs.. to get my life back.. and here i am today... in the last 5 yrs thanks to my son in law he has helped me recover what i had lost, i can spell, i can make simi sentences and structures... but it has taken a lot of work.. I even dont need him to spell every word for me.. for i have memoriezed almost everythign.. it takes a lot of work but being on this computer writing my fears and stress out, telling my storys and typing almost all day long has helped me so much and others ahve really helped me on these sites. well thanks for sharing, and just keep coming back, write any time about anything.... we are here to learn from each other.... ps. i will leave you with this.. i got tested at the college when i was 42yrs old i am now 47 and they tested me for dislexic. there out come after 187.00 was that i was ONE NOTCH OFF OF BEING MENTALLY RETARTED... and I DID NOT HAVE A DYLESXIC PROBLEM... i was dumb..... no joking you.. beause i faild all of there tests I could not think the way thy thought i should think... i was Retarted.... LOL.. I run my own business, have two adult kids put them thorugh college and ya... i dont think so.. sorry... LOL I am not going to spell check for this will help others to see that we do have a problem and it is not are Typing it is are minds and hands.... maybe someone or a doctor might learn from this. thanks..

My Dyslexia seemed to start up a little differently. I went to school in Africa. Before I a started school I was a normal bright little child. The only problem they may have noticed, was I seemed to be a little uncoordinated, e.g. didn't know which hand to put first when trying to do a cartwheel. The schools I attended were of a high quality as far as education. I was allowed to be left-handed as I was. The problem was, as hard as the teachers tried to teach me how to read write and spell, I just couldn't do it. This cause my Teachers and mother to become frustrated, and take their frustrations out on me, which caused all kinds of psychological problems as well. I was diagnosed quite early with dyslexia, but this didn't mean much, as no one new anything about it, and so the torcher continued. At age ten I was sent to a remedial school. Where they took every thing back to the beginning and tried teaching me again from scratch. It did help a little, but the problem was still there. The part of my brain that is supposed to do these things doesn’t work!!! The only way I get around this is by getting another part of my brain to take over this. This helps, but it will never work as the part of my brain that is ment to do this does. People often say well just practice reading. This is like telling a crippled person to practice walking. He may practice walking with his hands, but it is still not as affective as walking with the right bits of his body. Thank you for the supportive postings lets all be there for one another.

one thing i hated growing up was... LOOK it up in the Dictionanry.. how do you do this when you cant pronounce the word, when you dont have any idea what the word LOOKS LIKE OR THE meaning of the word... they could not grasp this and think a 10th grader should have, could have.. well in one of my classes it was that we came every day for 10months and every day we would go into the Encyclopedia and we had to learn a new word every day for 45mints we had to take it and write it down.... it was a waist of time......but i got a A' so that was good.... I hope someday Doctors will learn this IS NOT ABOUT THE EYES... it is about the teaching, the brain and hand cordination it is about the Right and Left brain... there are so many times even now wehn I am reading i see the words.. i hear the words but htwn i go to write i t down.... it fummbles and ends up being something diffrent.. I can only hope by this post that others will see it and not see misspeld words but a brain disfunciton that needs to be looked at more clearly in the future.... 47ysr and they still can not figure out the brain.... sad.... Remember everyone... DON'T SPELL CHECK... LET YOUR BRAIN SHOW THE TRUTH IN YOUR MIND AN DHANDS.. SO OTHERS CAN SEE THIS SI NOT A TYPING PROBLEM I TS A REAL PROBLEM THAT WE HAVE.... THANKS

I AM 64 SO I HAVE YOU BEAT ON DEALING WITH BEING DYSLEXIC.
I CAN RELATE TO ALMOST EVERY THING YOU SAID. I CAN SAY THAT I READ AND UNDERSTAND MUCH BETTER NOW THAN I DID AS A YOUNG PERSON. BUT I STILL STRUGGEL WITH SPELLING AND NUMBERS. AND CATCHING MY MISSTAKES . IT IS FUNNY THAT I LOVE TO EXPRESS MY SELF THROUGH WRITING EVEN THOUGH IT IS SO VERY TIME COMSUMING AND HARD FOR ME TOGET IT ALL WRITTIEN DOWN OR TYPED. IF I HAD, HAD SPELL CHECK BACK IN THE DAYS OF MY EARLY EDUCATION , I MIGHT HAVE BEEN SOME WELL KNOWN SCOLLAR BY NOW. I STILL HAVE A LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH SPELL CHECK. BUT I CANT LIVE WITH OUT IT. YOU WILL NOTICE THAT I PUT EXTRA SPACES BETWEEN EACH WORD . THIS REALLY HELLPS ME TO SEE EACH WORD BETTER. I ALSO LIKE THE CAPITAL LETTERS . AND I FIND RED PRINT MUCH EASIER TO READ. I REALLY DID NOT HAVE VERY MUCH OF A HARD TIME READING YOUR POST. BUT THEN I AM USED TO READING MY OWN TEXT AND MISSSPELLING AND CRAZY TYPING. THERE ARE MANY WORDS THAT I MISS TYPE ALMOST EVERTIME I TYPE THEM . EXAMPLE: WNAT ADN THAN / THAT POELPLE PEOLPE PEOPLE . MY OWN LAST NAME I MISS TYPE AS WELL AS MY EMAIL ADDRESS. . MY HAND WRITING IS SO BAD I SOME TIMES CAN NOT READ WHAT I WROTE. LARGE PRINT ALSO HELPS ME . I THINK YOU DID A GEART JOB EXPLAINING SOME OF THE PEOBLEMS WE HAVE . I KNOW THAT EACH DYSLEXIC PERSON IS DIFFERENT . I SOME TIMES EXPLAIN THAT I THINK MY BRAIN IS A SPEED DEMON AND DOSE NOT WNAT TO TAKE TIME TO STOP . IT JUST WANTS TO SPEED ON . IT DOSE NOT CARE IF THE WORDS ARE SPELLED RIGHT OR NOT. ONE TIME I MADE 10 SIGNS THEY ALL SAID THE SAME THING " FEE PUPPIES " . MY BRAIN SOMETIMES TAKES THE END OF THE WORD AND PUTS IT IN THE FRONT .

I PUT EXTRA SPACES BETWEEN EACH WORD BUT THIS PROGARM ON THIS WEB SITE PUT THEM BACK THE WAY IT SHOULD BE . SO ALL MY TIME SPENT PUTTING THE EXTRA SPACE BETWEEN WAS WASTED.

RED PRINT MUCH EASIER TO READ/
See now i have a very hard time seeing Red or Oranges, if there is type set on these you might as well say forget it.. so you might be also color blind, they say that if you can read these two colors that is the case has anyone ever told you or have you been check for thta. a lot of time i at the millde and switch the letters.. with out ever enve knowing i ma do it... Dose your mind have to think of every word for my mind when i type say word by word and some times if i do not undersantad the owrd what will happen is i will start to spell it in my head letter by letter but of corse we knot it will now come out. Well thank you for sharing, were you raised in the N/ S/ W/ E of the statates.. i was the west cost...... I wanted to see this week if there is a diffrents in the way we were taought the worlds... and the way we speak.... thanks for sharing....

I see what you are trying to do and it does make a lot of sense. My problem is I have a huge difficulty reading normal texted, so reading texted with a lot of mistakes is a lot harder for me. Even with my confident reader program it ends up just spelling out the misspelt words, which is absolutely no help to me. I just want to be able to talk to others in the easiest way for them to understand. And I think this sight should firstly be for us to support one another, and then for everything else.
