I found this group tonight and I am so glad! I've been reading all the posts trying to get some information that will help me with my gritty eyes.
I can't take fish oil capsules because I am on blood thinners as a result of a deep vein thrombosis after my brain surgery last October.

I just got some Salba (chia seeds) but now it seems as if they might be contraindicted as well, because they could increase the risk of bleeding.

I have been taking nortriptyline for chronic headaches, but didn't take them for the month I was in hospital. I started taking them again when I returned home and the dry eyes started to be a problem around then.

I also have rosacea, so the dry eyes could be ocular rosacea. The neurosurgeon, infection control specialist and opthalmologist all say there is no indication of anything that would cause my dry eyes.

I'm frantic to get some help, am tired of sitting around all evening with my eyes closed. Oh yes, the infection for which I had surgery was in the occipital region of my brain, which is the lobe that controls vision.
Help!

" If you are frantic about your dry eyes then find yourself another opthalmologist who will listen to you and help you. I thought I just had to live with dry eyes but when they really started hurting me I found someone else who has helped me. Good luck. "
