How many of you are going to have your child vaccinated ??? I am struggling with my decision . With so many of the child deaths being kids with disabilities /special needs I am worried but I am also worried about the safety of the vaccine. I have been giving Sam extra vit D for a while and I think it has helped a lot but do I risk him getting swine flu ?? My niece just had it . She is 22 and was really knocked by it . She is fine now but was pretty sick .

So what are you going to do ?? What are your thoughts ??

" I'm undecided on this also. I will definitely get the regular flu vaccine for her, but there is so much controversy around the swine flu vaccine & I just don't know. I'm just kind of waiting to hear more about it. Not only that, our doctor doesn't even have it available yet. "

" Hannah has gotten her's already and has had no side effects at all. Here in MN there have been too many deaths, the latest a healthy 54 year old man no underlying conditions and Katie as you well know with our RA we have to be very careful. I can't take the vac. right now as Im on prednisone for a flare. I feel I need to protect Hannah as much as I can. My other two healthy kids will wait until more is available. They have or will get the regular flu shot already. I work for the police department and the cops on the street were the first ones to get it. No problems so far.

One thought I have, people say they dont want to get this because its new and untested. Well isn't the regular flu shot new every year and we take it. They make a new type every year as the strain changes and there are different variants and they have to make a new vac. every year to compensate for that. I know this is a personal choice but this one has me scared with so many deaths so far. "

" We havent been healthy enough to get it...but plan too as soon as we are..Emma has had the flu 3 times already and luckily not H1N1 yet....but her immune system is taking a pounding this season so anything I can do to help.....I would sayif your child has an underlying condition absolutly...but if your kiddo is healthy as a horse...you probably would be okay with the regular flu..... " My kids will get it if it ever becomes available here. A 14 yr old boy died here last week from H1N1. I just can't take a chance with my boys. They get the seasonal flu shot every year with no problems. In fact, the one year I didn't bring them for the shot, they both got the flu, and that was about the sickest they had every been. "
