I'm curious, how long have all of you been dealing with this vertigo/dizziness? Have any treatments helped, cured or done nothing? And is it a constant feeling of dizziness or does it come and go? If it comes and goes, how long does it generally last for you?

" I have had dizzy spells on and off for a few years. Very sporadic......last for a couple hours and gone.

I had vertigo July 29 of this year and was messed up for 4 wks and 3 days. My eyes did weird things, I had panic attacks, felt my brain move (sounds spooky but that's how it felt), and felt dizzy. I was spinning like crazy the first day and couldn't hardly stand up by myself. Wound up in the ER. Meclizine helped my weird eye symptoms for a while. I gradually got better. Still sleep with 2 pillows and have to be careful about turning my head. Some days I don't feel good and feel slightly dizzy but I'm better for the most part. Had 3 Epleys and that might have helped.......who knows?

" I have been dealing for about3 1/2 years. It all started for me when I came back from trip in Cabo. My ears was messed up from the flight. The were plugged up for three days of my vacation. Upon returning home. I'll say a week or so later, I was washing dishing and felt like I was being pulled toward the floor. Instant panic set in. (mind you) I have NEVER had an panic or anxiety attack before.

I just stop washing the dishes and went to bed. Didn't feel that again. For about a month. Didn't tell my husband nothing.. That's when all hell broke lose in my life. For the most part, I didnt have any vertigo attacks till this year in July.

I will have months off from the dizzies. As long as a year. I use to say February 2007 was the worst month of my life. Nope, not anymore. July this year is the worse.

I feel unbalanced everyday. Sometime I'm so use to it, it doesnt bother me. I carry on with my life. I drive and everything. But then i will have these episodes where I feel drained, fatigued, anxiety and just lay around. This happen before and during my periods. I'm working on maybe stopping my periods all together. I got new symptoms this year too. The MAV for example, is the fist time this year I experienced this side effect.
TEST:
MRI,EEG,VNG,eply manuver,Migrain medication,antivert,xanax,bandroff excersise
Did any work..a little.
I have TMJ that i beleve manifested this. TMJ mimicks Meneirs. TMJ is the worse thing ever too. If you look into TMJ, you will be surprised of the side effects! "

" I have had this for about five years, on and off. Sometiomes I can go months without an attack, and other times I get them within days of each other. Sometimes they last for a day or so, though so far they have started to get better gradually after a few hours. When I feel an attack coming on, I try to do the Eppley manouver, and sometimes that seems to keep it from gettting worse. I don't take any medicine for it. One doctor prescribed meclazine, but another one said that wouldn't work.

Interesting about the TMJ, since I have a little of that, too, and a friend who also has vertigo has TMJ. "

" Had it for 6 months, at first I just felt dizzy. Then there would be times when it would only happen from laying to standing.I would be walking along and then it would hit me like I were gonna fall over, etc.Lately it has been with me all day and I'm off balance.I have no clue where it stems from and neither do my doctors including my neuro and ENT.I hope you find permanent relief because as you can see most of us have not:( Good luck to you.Oh I have no idea how to cope with this.It just makes me crazy on a daily basis lol. " 11 years.
I have been diagnosed with bilateral vestibular hypofunction and migraine associated vertigo.
I have some symptoms every day.
Symptoms include sensitivity to florescent lights, difficulty "scrolling" on the computer, patterns (e.g. floor tiles) appearing to jump around), trouble riding elevators and escalators, etc. I sometimes feel as if I am spinning or floating.
I also have incredible fatigue and migraines.

Nonetheless, I live a full and happy life.
I work full-time in a job I love and have a sweet husband and the cutest dog!

I did years of vestibular rehabilitation and found some help.

The most dramatic help came from participating in a clinical trial of the BrainPort Balance Device.
It gave me my life back. All symptoms disappeared within a week of using the device.
However, one would need to continue to use it daily to maintain all the good effects and my participation in the clinical trail is over.
We are waiting for FDA approval.

" Dory,
After trying everything under the sun, I have found that a small amount of Valium every day takes the edge off the dizziness/nausea and helps me to be able to function. Cannot imagine having the responsibility of a child..........
Anyway, several doctors have advised me to take 2.5mg/Valium 2-3 times a day and it sure seems to be working..............dyana "

" Dyana,
I am told Valium and Xanax are the same. But why do I always here Valium more than xanax and it seems the doctors is always giving me xanax.
Can you become dependant to valium? "

" My understanding is that you can become dependent. The PA at my dr's office gave me an RX for some and said not to worry....they could help me get off them! Scared me to death. I never had to take them though.
