I woke up yesterday out of a deep sleep and my room was completely spinning around me, i couldnt lay my head flat and i couldnt walk very straight for hours. I went to the doctor and he said it was a chemical imbalance, he prescribed 12.5mg of meclizine 3 times a day. Im a little worried to take the medicine because my body never reacts well to it, no matter what medicine i take i get really sleepy and dizzy. I have to work so this is a big problem. has anyone taken this medicine at this dose and had any side effects? please let me know

" All the doctors I have consulted have said medications are not helpful. YOu should be checked for vestibulary problems. The Eppley manoeuver may help you. "

" Meclizine can work for some people. It can not hurt you. They sell it over the counter in the drug store--it is also called Bonnie. They give it to people who get sea-sick. Try it for a week. If you don't feel any better go back to the doctor and tell him the medication did not work. You have to at least try what he gave you, otherwise he will think you are a hypochondriac. Trust me. Don't give the doctor a reason to think you are not doing what he asks. It is really frustrating when patients don't take the medicine they are prescribed, and if you get the doctor upset, he won't want to refer you for the testing that argus is talking about. "
