Advice:
Total Colectomy

I have had several severe diverticulitis attacks on both the right and left sides of my colon and my doctor's and I have decided that the only option left for me is to have my entire colon removed. Has anyone else had a total colectomy? My surgery is going to be done laparoscopically and my small intestine will be connected directly to my rectum if all goes accordingly. If you have had this what was your experience like and how was your recovery process?

Thank you all so much!
