" I, too was recovering from diverticulitis in February when I went on a business trip to Las Vegas. It was a 5.5 hour plane trip and was tiring, but was able to make the trip.

On 4/6, I had lap surgery to remove my sigmoid colon and feel like a new woman. Of course, I am not pushing the surgery, but I waited too long (4 attacks in 2.5 years) and resisted many fun things in life (like traveling) because I was afraid of an attack.

All the best to you! "

" Pammy, So glad to hear you are happy with your surgery. I am planning to have it done in July.. I think I am getting another attack as we speak (type). I am so discouraged today because of the discomfort. Gas - cramps, etc. Guess I'll get the heating pad, take some chicken broth with tylenol! "

" I'm new at this and I noticed a comment about Coronas. I too love beer (in moderation of course) but have removed it from my diet as I am afraid the acidity may be contributing to problems. Any ideas or comments? "

" Trust me I am not telling you to drink but I do have a few coronas a week and don't think that they make it any worse.. Squeeze a lemon in it , that cuts down on the acidity , that's why we put them in water.. Again I am not a doctor but feel no worse having a few beers.. Good luck.. I will probably get blasted for this post.. Best of health to everyone...

" To Really Rhonda - thank you so much for your post! I had not thought of putting a lemon in it, but actually a lime would probably work the same and they're great in Coronas anyway - I always put one in the bottle. I may give my system a little more time to get calmed down (just got out of the hospital the first of August) but I am sure I will brave one or two on down the road. My dad is having surgery again in October and I'll be traveling then which always throws my system out of whack (I've had an attack each time I return), but its good to know I can try it and the lemon idea was excellent. Thanks, Donna "

" Hi Rhonda, I had my sigmoid colon removed in July and am finally feeling pretty good. I didn't "bounce" right back, however am resuming a normal life and my energy level is good. Bowels are working well and SO FAR think I can eat most anything. I will, however, be cautious.. I hope this thing doesn't ever start in the "new" area. The constant infections and cipro, flagyl, etc. were really dragging me down so decided to go that route. "
