My old friend is comming down for the night, we like to have bonfires and drink together, and when we drink we eat hot dogs.. if anyone knows weight watchers, they know that hot dogs are way high in points. So i am worried that i will fall off the waggon tonight.... if i do, is it a big deal? I mena i know you have to follow your diet yadda yadda yadda, but will one night of drinks and hot dogs kill a whole week of good eating? imputs are greatly needed!!!!! I really want to have fun like we used to, but i dont want to undo all my hard work..

" I think you already know the answer to your question. Yes, one night can ruin a week's worth of healthy eating. I know because I have done it. Maybe you can have a lean hamburger patty or a turkey burger. Look at some of the hotdogs and find one that is not high in calories or sodium. Maybe you could try and get some drinks that you can have that isn't too high on the WW point scale. Eat light in the morning and at noon then you can use your points left over for when your friends come. I hope some of this helps. "

" I beg to differ, but one night cannot ruin a weeks worth of healthy eating. Particularly if you plan that night into your weekly points.
I do not do WW myself, but my mother does, and I know that she will plan "cheat days" in which she has mega points saved up.
As Kathy suggested, have lower calorie hot dogs - try turkey dogs - as well as lower carb, high fiber buns. Try clear alcohol versus colored - or light beer - or white wine. Above all, make sure you do an intense workout that day so that your body is in "burn calorie and fat" mode when you indulge.
Have fun! "

" No Way! I've gone down from 182 lbs to 147 and still going. There have been times where I totally lost my mind and full-on binged for three days at a time but then shook myself off and kept going. Don't focus on one day of eating normally. You're going to have to do it sooner or later anyway. Enjoy your visit with your friend, try to eat and drink the bad stuff in moderation, and then get back on the (weight watchers) horse! Don't beat yourself up and keep losing weight, feeling better, looking better, and being a healthier person. Good luck! "

" I absolutely agree with sapphire and vitav One meal is not going to kill a whole week I have a couple of weeks where I ate double my calories one day of the weekend and still lost 2/3 lbs each time but the best way to keep those days to plan ahead if you can and work hard before and after you will be okay keep up the good work so far "

" i'VE HEARD ALOT OF SUCCESSFUL DIETERS (EATERS) SAY THAT YOU SHOULD PLAN ONE CHEAT DAY A WEEK. TRhat maybe it keeps the metabolism revved up. I would say a hot dog is much better than sugary snacks- and after all- if you cant enjoy one meal w/your friend than whats the point of dieting? You cant be in total abstinance all the time. Just plan for it and get back to your healthy eating right after. Also- have fun!!! "

" I feel like I need to appolize to everyone. I worded my first reply wrong. I should have added it will ruin it if you go overboard and keep eating the wrong things. I have done that after eating one meal of something I wouldn't normally have and it caused to me like it so much I just kept eating that way. Please forgive my mistake. Have a good time "

" If you had not been dieting all week and than had an indulgent night. How much worse the end result would be! "

" You've gotten great advice here and I agree with all of it. Your question was whether one night of drinks and hot dogs kill a whole week of good eating. My answer is . . . only if you let it. You know yourself best. Will one night of drinking and eating whatever you want throw you off track really badly and open the door to a week or more of over-indulgence? Or are you disciplined enough to have a night off and get right back on track the next day? How you answer those questions will tell you what you need to know.

I like the suggestions about trying to moderate the night of indulgence, by incorporating healthier, lower calorie hot dogs (and there is a big difference among them, so read the packages) and healthier high fiber buns. I also agree that sticking to beer and wine is a good idea - sugary drinks of any type, including alcoholic beverages, can really pack a huge number of calories.

I'd also suggest trying to throw in some other healthier elements, like having some raw vegetables or air-popped popcorn on hand to munch on while you drink, and having plenty of fresh water available, maybe alternating alcoholic beverages with water as you party. A lot of us here are trying to change our entire lifestyle and make it healthier. So I would see this as a good opportunity to experiment with making a night of fun, where you know you are going to go off your diet, at least a little bit healthier than it may have been in the past.
