What cause this when exercising ? Is it lack of sugar ?

Today, I was in my exercise class and I felt terrible. I felt asthough I was going to faint. I had the terrible shakes and was sweating hot and cold.

After eating a fair bit of food afterwards, I did feel slightly better, but the whole thing was so bad I didn't really feel normal again until afew hours later.

" Yes, I had some porridge in the morning. I have a slight cold and was feeling alittle poorly at the weekend, but I don't think it could be that because it has happened before only not as bad as this time round.

It's very annoying because now it's worried me for the next time I go incase I faint or something. "

" I get like that if I am out doing things and don't eat. I think it was just probably like manda said low blood sugar. just keep an eye out and see if it keeps happening. If it does you might be coming down with a cold or something. Hope it doesn't happen again. "

" Thanks for your replies.

Yep - I've thought about it and I too think it was a low sugar attack.

I workout in the mornings, so I'll make sure I eat a big healthy breakfast this time.

Tomorrow, I have my spinning class, which is real hard work. I'll see what happens then.

Thanks again. "

" How old are you and have you had a stress test done? That could be a heart attack. Woman many times do not experience pain when having a heat problem. Please talk to your doctor! "

" If your eatting porridge in the morning make it with fresh fruit and add some protein and nuts. My oatmeal this morning had peaches, pears and dried cranberries added to it when it was cooking. I mixed in light tofu (fat free cottage cheese works too) and cinnamon and toped it with pecans. I have hard work to do today. This will keep me going. "

" Hi cinnamint,

I was thinking Protein :S What could possibly go in porridge. Tofu - I've never tried that before or even heard of it, does it really taste ok with cottage cheese, I guess I could try it out, it would certainly give me the protein I need which I seem to be lacking. Thanks for the tip. "

" Both the protein and the fat from nuts should help you. Tofu is soy bean curd. Maybe there is another name for it where you live. It would be most popular with Asian food. It has no flavor on its own but takes on the flavor of whatever it is put into. Its also high in calcium. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tofu

My husband likes it with fat free cottage cheese. My diet (The Zone) requires protein, carbs and fats to be eaten together at all meals and snacks. It sure helps keep you full longer.

If I don't add any protein to my oatmeal then I make 7-8 egg whites with veggies in them to eat with my oatmeal. It does help that I have tons of chickens to get my eggs. Do you have egg whites in cartons? "
