" Leptin decreases as you age along with your bone mass. Osteocalcin in your bones is a hormone that controls both fat storage and insulin. Exercise, especially working with weights, does build bone mass, which in turn increases the amount of osteocalcin that bones produce. The more osteocalcin, the better our insulin regulation and the better we can control our blood glucose levels. "

" I was looking at your profile. Are you still on prednisone? With your condition you could benefit on the same diet that I am on. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am following a anti inflammatory diet that is low in arachidonic acid that promote inflammation and is also balanced so your insulin does not go to high or to low along with high dose fish oil. It is the zone diet from the Toxic Fat book.

I found this book on line.
Starting on page 195 talks about nutrition for Polymyositis Dermatomyositis. You can see where my diet could help you.
