Since our apartment's pool opened I've been swimming either every day or every other day to get exercise- not to mention trying very hard to eat a nice balanced vegan diet.... it's been I guess almost two months now and I've actually gained a couple of pounds.. and no, not muscle either.. my clothes are definitely tighter. This is so messed up >.<

" Can you tell for sure it's not muscle? I don't know what your body type is like but my understanding is that sometimes muscles really won't be that visible unless you've lost any fat layers that might be padding the top of them? "

" It isn't uncommon to go up before you go down when utilizing exercise. Keep at it. Time will tell.

Plus, a side point is, if you are strictly eating a vegan diet, but it is poorly balanced...this can cause you to gain weight. If you are malnurished your body will store whatever fat you do consume because it is essentially starving.

Are you seeing a nutritionist for help in this diet plan? Are you incorporating enough fats and protiens? What about vitamin and mineral suppliments? "

" If you are exercising with minimal change to your diet, then I agree, its not uncommon to go up before you come back down. Just hang in there and it will come off.

Also, I'm a big believer in the changing of dietary habits. I lost about 100lbs. on LA Weightloss. That program was all about variety and portion control. I ate five times a day and I had several different choices to choose from. It even offered options for vegetarians. Since you are vegan I honestly don't know if all the vegetarian choices would work for you; but, like I said, I dropped 100lbs. on it. LA Weightloss is out of business now, but if you'd like some information about it, message me and I'll be happy to outline how the program worked for you.

Peace,

~A "

" yes my diet is balanced.

I couldn't say for sure it's not muscle except that i don't think swimming builds much muscle in general and i don't *look* slimmer so i am pretty sure i haven't lost any fat. and even if i got some muscle i'm not sure that would make my pants tighter? ab muscles don't really make your stomach bulge right?

no nutritionist.. can't afford it. i'm on my own here.

i've looked into some of the diet plans like nutrisystem and such.. none have vegan options at all. "

" On a vegan diet, what are the sources of protein? It seems to me that with some minor alterations, the LA Weightloss program that I used could work very well for you. I'm willing to give you the materials as I said. "

" Do you think maybe to many nuts, fats or even salt? If it's not your diet, it could be water weight from the heat. I tend to gain water weight in the summer.

I have been swimming too. It feels so good. I have been swimming after my workout. I get a second wind from the cool water to keep going. "
