I want to lose 40 lbs by November 1, 2009. I've been overweight for 8 years now, and I am starting to feel like I will never be thin again. However, I do not want to give up!
I know I have to change the way I think about my weight loss. I need to stay positive, be patient, and strong-willed . I also need to be disciplined so I will continue to do the things I need to do everyday, like: 1) go to the gym, 2) eat the right foods, 3) keep a food diary, 4) restrict calories, 5) get 7-8 hours of sleep everyday, and 6) practice stress reduction. I would like to form a group of positive people to support and encourage each other on our weight loss journey by being strong instead of whiny and negative. Posted on 06/09/09, 05:06 pm |

I am very proud of you for the choices you have made. I have lost 50 with another 20 to go. I am a part time personal trainer. Being accountable to those I train helps me be accountable to myself. I have been at about the same weight for the last 2 months BUT I have dropped 2% body fat - so its not all about weight. My goal is to drop the last 20 by the end of the year.
Don't beat yourself up if you have a slip up. They happen - just get back on the wagon! You are setting a great example for your children! Keep up the good work!!!

Hello, everyone. Welcome Newcomers. Who said that losing weight was easy? But it's NOT impossible. I think the most important thing is to be conscious about the fact that we have to make better choices about our food intake, attitude, and exercise level.
Yesterday morning, I went for a bike ride with my children. Yes, I got a new bike. :) It was great. Then, I did situps while waiting for my kids during their swimming practice. My belly is feeling tighter and flatter. Yeah!!! I am eating a lot more fruits and vegetables. The weight is not coming off as fast as I wish, but it will happen. I am taking the right steps. How 'bout you guys?

Here's something I read today........."When you look at that muffin or block of chocolate (or whatever) ask it "how would you look on my hips or stomach?".....it's a great encourager to saying NO THANK YOU! I just joined weight watchers about 2 weeks ago. I've lost 4 pounds. I also am dealing with some health issue with blood clot in my leg. But, I figure, I can't give up on losing weight now. I have to keep going. I need to lose at least 30-40 pounds. All my health issues would be improved too if I lost weight. How can I join the group? I am new to this daily strength website. Do I ask people to be my friend or something?

Hi Mom of 3 and Dana. Welcome to our group... Consider yourselves joined... Just check in when you want to... 1-2 pounds a week sounds a realistic goal and is what most people will be aiming for. Good on you mom of 3 for losing 4 lbs already... a lot of people here have other health issues, and losing weight can only help. ..We are here to support you both so keep in touch... take one day at a time... If you are anything like the rest of us, some days will be great... others not so much... but that's reality... don't give up. looking forward to hearing more from you and everyone else out there.
