Lose weight with me!

I want to lose 40 lbs by November 1, 2009. I've been overweight for 8 years now, and I am starting to feel like I will never be thin again. However, I do not want to give up!

I know I have to change the way I think about my weight loss. I need to stay positive, be patient, and strong-willed . I also need to be disciplined so I will continue to do the things I need to do everyday, like: 1) go to the gym, 2) eat the right foods, 3) keep a food diary, 4) restrict calories, 5) get 7-8 hours of sleep everyday, and 6) practice stress reduction.

I would like to form a group of positive people to support and encourage each other on our weight loss journey by being strong instead of whiny and negative.

" Hello everyone, how are you? Welcome newcomers. How is your Summer going? I hope everyone is doing well. I wish you all good luck with achieving physical fitness.

I am in no way perfect. I am encountering challenges on my weight loss endeavor. I do not intend to give up, though.

My whole day was consumed with taking my kids to swimming practices and swimming fun with friends. I spent some great times today with dear friends, which made my day. Isn't it great to have quality friends who are kind and considerate?

Oh! I almost forgot about my Bible Study friends with whom I met this morning at 8:00! They are such an inspiration!

I did not achieve my goal of 173 lbs by yesterday. I weighed 176. :( So far, since I started my physical fitness plan almost a month ago, I have gone up and down from 178 to 174. I have, however, modified my diet tremendously. I eat a lot more healthily now and take vitamins everyday. Today I ate asparagus, fish, brown rice, red bell pepper, garbanzo beans, and... a hamburger, and an ice cream. I had the hamburger and ice cream at a time when I was caught hungry with little time to get anything else better. I could have chosen a salad instead, though. Could it be that I am trying to sabotage my diet? What am I afraid of? I need to stop being my own enemy. I definitely DO want to lose the weight, but why do I go on and sabotage my efforts?

I am not giving up!!!!!!!! I am going to the gym again tomorrow. I already feel my strength and balance coming back. I am starting to feel like I can actually show off during my step class. :) There has been some improvment, that's for sure.

I will not just focus on the weight and be depressed. I will focus on the fact that I am able to do my step class with much more ease and control and I feel more energetic, alert, and healthy.

I will continue to face my successes and failures head on. My weight is only ONE aspect of me. It does not define me. I am VOLUNTARILY CHOOSING to eat healthily and exercise more in order to achieve physical fitness and a healthy body. I will continue to pursue my goal of physical fitness until I achieve it. I will stay honest with myself and others. I will not pretend to be perfect, but I will give it my best. "

" I would love to lose weigh with you guys. You all sound very supportive. I have needed to lose weight for several years now. But, now I have a new incentive. I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. My heart only pumps at 30% capacity. If I can lose weight, it will help take some load off my heart. "

" Hello and welcome, Cdenny, Samorchard, JustSpiffy, and Jane1960! Good luck with your weight loss.

Happy 4th of July (United State's Independence Day)!!! I am going camping with my family. I will have to resist the temptation to load up on junk food. For some reason, I am used to eating junk food during all celebrations. :( :( I've got to focus on other things, like enjoying the people around me and enjoying the scenary. Got to go now. Be good. Keep us posted on your progress, good or bad. It's OK if you're struggling. We'll get through this together. Talk to you soon. "

" Hi guys. Off on my holiday to Australia in a few hours, Hope you all have a successful week ahead of you, i want to hear great things when i get back in a weeks time. We can do this, we can. The only thing that will stop us, is if when we fail, we refuse to get up again. So if you are having a hard time, get up, get moving, get motivated, and get healthy. God's greatest blessings on all of you. hugs Lynda

PS: am determined to lose weight while i am away. I WILL do it, so can you . "

" I'm right with you! I started November of 2008 and am down about 30 pounds, boy has it been a long process. I hired a personal trainer and have had to completely revamp my life. I hate that at 22 I am struggling with weight loss but I know if I get it on track and use the same methods as you have listed here it will make life so much better. "
