Lose weight with me!

I want to lose 40 lbs by November 1, 2009. I've been overweight for 8 years now, and I am starting to feel like I will never be thin again. However, I do not want to give up!

I know I have to change the way I think about my weight loss. I need to stay positive, be patient, and strong-willed . I also need to be disciplined so I will continue to do the things I need to do everyday, like: 1) go to the gym, 2) eat the right foods, 3) keep a food diary, 4) restrict calories, 5) get 7-8 hours of sleep everyday, and 6) practice stress reduction.

I would like to form a group of positive people to support and encourage each other on our weight loss journey by being strong instead of whiny and negative.

" Hello everyone,

I hope you are getting a little closer to your physical fitness goals. Have you guys tried Oprah's site at www.oprah.com? It's full of entertaining information about health. I am going to the gym in 1 1/2 hours. I can make lots of excuses as to why I should not go, but I will get my big butt over there. :) "

" Hello friends. Hope all is going well for you. Know what u r saying queenbee - most of us have have done the losing- gaining thing, but we're done with that, from now on in we are ready and eager for permanent change, anything else will just have us losing weight, only to regain it again. NO WAY. Small manageable steps, that we can integrate into our lives long after we reach our goal, is what we are after. Getting on treadmill now Gentlemom, will think of you and hope you have managed to "get your big butt over there" lol. Take care everyone and just get out there and do it (if you are able) :-)
PS: Anyone interested in posting start/current/goal weights once a week? If so mine are as follows: 237 / 222 / 132. "

" gentlemom - you sure have started something! What a great lot of gals! Thank you all sooo much for your inspiration....Special hugs to thebuckstopshere....if you can do it, I can do it! 4 weeks ago decided on minimum sugar intake by eliminating cookies & dessert, but gave myself permission to have two small squares of dark chocolate if desperate. Result=5 squares in 4 weeks and have not felt desperate at all. Giving oneself permission for a little treat seems to be a good key! However, confessions now....home made oat cookies in house last week....after resisting 3 days ended up having 1 daily for 3 days. I left the remainder in the tin and resisted having no more than one spoonful of an apple and peach crumble pudding I made last night which I am quite proud of. Starting weight 84.5 kgs.Today 82.9, so am On The Way! God bless us all in our endeavours for a healthy life! Friends and Fun and a sense of Family here together on "Daily Strength" "

Thank goodness for the internet!!!

And thank you all for being here. Now I am determined to lose this nasty pounds I've been carrying around for waaaaay too long! :) Good luck to all of you! "

" Hey everyone. :) I've been awake since 5:00 am when some little birds outside woke me up. They sounded beautiful, but do they have to wake up so early? :) Queenbee2009, you too are one of our newest members, aren't you. Welcome! You are an a roll, too. Keep it up.

Thebuckstopshere, I love your idea of sharing our weight on a weekly basis in the form of: original weight, current weight, and weight goal. That would definitely help me see the big picture :) clearly. It will give me an honest view of how I'm doing. Do you guys want to do this on Mondays? That way we have a little incentive to "behave" on the weekend, if you know what I mean. :) Since I did not start yesterday, I will do it today. Here it goes. Deep breath... 178.5, 178.5, 135. I have been fluctuating lately, going up and down a few pounds. I have honestly cheated here and there. I thought that tiny piece of pizza yesterday would not count... I guess it did. And so did that little piece of brownie on Sunday, huh? Maybe those big bowls of barley are a little too big. Mmmm. I guess I better get more strict with myself, or else I will be left behind!!! These girls are rocking! Better get my booty off the sofa. Bye, guys. :) "

" Well, I'm gonna join in :)
I'm 20 and honestly I don't think I've ever been below 200 lbs. The women in my family are built like line backers! You know, broad shoulders, wide hips etc. My mom at her thinnest was 172 lbs and her jeans were rubbing her hips raw! She really was thin, well as thin as we can be. It's physicially impossible for me to be a size 2. Even if I had no fat on my body, my bone structure would still keep me at around a 10 or so.

So, here are my currentl and hopefuls!
Today: 210 :/
Goal: 175
Total: 35

My mom think's I'll look emaciated...anyone here have a similar body type like I described? I just can't figure out what's 'ideal' for me?

Meh but either way, I'm in. Diet and exercise (If I walk my neighborhood 4 times, I've walked 2 miles). "
