I want to lose 40 lbs by November 1, 2009. I've been overweight for 8 years now, and I am starting to feel like I will never be thin again. However, I do not want to give up!
I know I have to change the way I think about my weight loss. I need to stay positive, be patient, and strong-willed . I also need to be disciplined so I will continue to do the things I need to do everyday, like: 1) go to the gym, 2) eat the right foods, 3) keep a food diary, 4) restrict calories, 5) get 7-8 hours of sleep everyday, and 6) practice stress reduction. I would like to form a group of positive people to support and encourage each other on our weight loss journey by being strong instead of whiny and negative. Posted on 06/09/09, 05:06 pm |

To gentlemom: you are definitely on the right track and sound like you are doing well. I lost 90 lbs. over an 18 month period and have kept it off for 4 months now. There's no way I am going to let it come back after working so hard to get rid of it. Only wish I had done it years ago. I did the same things that you are doing - in fact I am still doing them most days except restricting the calories. Believe it or not, it was hard to begin to eat more when I hit my goal - I guess I was afraid that I would gain again.

Hi, I would like to join. I recently lost 50 lbs., and then gained back 25. I am trying to lose 20lbs. now by Aug. 30. I am new to this site,so I don't really know what to do. As far as a plan I am going to the gym 5 days a week, and trying to keep it around 1500 cal. a day.

Hello Librarygal and Sophie T. I ams o glad to hear of your success stories! They give so much positive energy. :). Congratulations on your weight loss. SophieT, don't worry that you regained some weight back. Just focus again on your fitness plan and be always on the lookout for that weight not to sneak into your body again. I think we will ALWAYS need to be watchful of of diet and exercise, even after we achieve our weight goal. It will have to be a life-long commitment, which can be fun, if you surrender with the right kind of positive, energetic people to help you keep going. Keep in touch. Iam a slow loser but the pounds rolling off slowly with WW I started in April this year with WW & lost 11lbs so far.Not much but 11 lbs lessI want to loose at leasr 50 more lbs by christmas thats when I go to visit my family in Germany.I really want to help others with yhere weight loss & hope to get help too.Thanks Birgit

Hi gentlemom and everyone else out there. Do you guys mind if i crash the party and join in too! First time i have done this so bear with me. I have been trying to lose weight with varying degrees of success, but know that if you stick with healthy eating and exercise regularly we can and definitely will lose weight and become the healthier us we were meant to be. Supermom, you sound like such an awesome lady, love the way you are so encouraging to everyone. I am from New Zealand and measure in kilos rather than pounds so will try and remember to convert. Need to lose double what you do gentlemom but we've all got to start somewhere right? keep up the good work guys . One day at a time of keeping to our plans is all it takes and before we know it, those lbs/kilos will be a thing of the past. Best wishes and kind thoughts to all. Can we do it? YES WE CAN

Hook me up also. I don't want to lose 40 but I'd be happy with myself at 15, anything more would be a happy surprise. I need someone to talk honestly to me about weight. I'm beginnig to feel that a great body at 47 isn't in the future for me.
