I want to lose 40 lbs by November 1, 2009. I've been overweight for 8 years now, and I am starting to feel like I will never be thin again. However, I do not want to give up!
I know I have to change the way I think about my weight loss. I need to stay positive, be patient, and strong-willed . I also need to be disciplined so I will continue to do the things I need to do everyday, like: 1) go to the gym, 2) eat the right foods, 3) keep a food diary, 4) restrict calories, 5) get 7-8 hours of sleep everyday, and 6) practice stress reduction. I would like to form a group of positive people to support and encourage each other on our weight loss journey by being strong instead of whiny and negative. Posted on 06/09/09, 05:06 pm |

Carmen don't feel bad and don't feel guilty1 guilt never helps. you need positive emotions to stay on track. So next time enjoy that indulgence it will satisfy your need and than you can get back on track easier. find A way to take those calories off somewhere else today. Every day is the first day of a new you!

And so say all of us Tobey.... Guilt is just a waste of space.... If you feel like you need to indulge yourself... then enjoy what you are having... the odd nougat bar is not going to harm you... just try to make most of your food choices healthy ones.... Everyday is a new one... don't be afraid of saying no to that next piece of cake. or chocolate or biscuit or whatever... try it... it feels sooo good....so empowering.... the more you practice the easier it becomes and even if you have said no to one thing , you have succeeded... thinking of you all and sending my warmest and biggest hugs.... Lynda

I was on Nutrisystem for about 6 months. It does work but it's very expensive, especially when you also have a family to feed. Luckily I was alone at the time. I have found that I can (when I really try) keep my portions small and eat low Glycemic foods myself with a lot of protein (that is basically what Nutrisystem is). I have a very stressful job at times and will often give in to temptation like the rest of the staff. I am about 20 pounds overweight and find as I get older that it is harder to get it off. By the time I put in 9 hours of work a day the last thing I want to do is workout when I get home......I know....waaaa! ;)
Have a great day to you all! Shelliegl

I am looovin the support you all give on this thread. It's exactly what I need right now. I lost 45 pounds on WW 3 years ago, then had my daughter and have been struggling for the past 2 years to get back on track. I just don't know what it is that causes me to struggle so bad. When I did it before, I very rarely strayed off track and now I can't manage to stay on! My husband has also gained weight and we are trying to do this together (we purchased an exercise bike and bowflex) but he's not very strict on the eating right part. He says I am trying to starve him to death, but in reality I tell him he can have just about whatever he wants, I just control his portions (one sandwich vs. three!). So anyway, it's tough.
I am really hoping through the support on this site I will be successful and be able to think positively if I make a slip instead of letting one slip become a downslide! Thanks everyone in advance for advice and support!

I am up for the challenge. I am new to this group and it's no time like the present to get the ball rolling. My goal is to lose twenty pounds by November 2009.

Yahoo! 115 entries so faR on Gentlemom's thread "Lose weight with me"...(maybe a record???) We are all endeavouring to be "Losers" - that is so great - and whoever thought that word could have such positive vibes?
Feed back please....Today I propose a name for us ....."Gentlemoms Gang" ..... Gentlemom would be so proud of everyone and we hope she will be back before too long.

Great to see such encouragement and wisdom from you gals as we welcome HollieB, Cleanbuddha, Shellieql.
Shellieql...your plan sounds sensible...May I suggest you don't make those portions too small if you are only eating 3 times a day. We all need to avoid putting our bods into starvation/survival mode which will result in a lower metabolism. Hi Lynda...(aka The buck stops here)...your advice is always so "right on"....keep it up please! Great advice from you too Tobey - feeling guilty is abolutely not allowed! Let's all take up Dana's motto..... "Today is the first day of the rest of my life".
