Has anyone tried Meridia or Reductil (the same thing, different brand names)?
If so can you please tell me how they worked for you? When you noticed a change? What the results were? Side effects? And any other part of your story with using this medication.
Thanks :)

" Oh man, I don't think I would take that stuff, honestly. I think I would question my dr for prescribing it too.
Just a piece of one site:
Although no deaths have been reported, there have been 28 reported adverse reactions associated with the use of sibutramine in Canada from December 28, 2000 to February 28, 2002. These reports are consistent with the known adverse reactions of sibutramine, which include cardiovascular reactions such as increased blood pressure, chest pain, stroke, as well as disturbances of vision such as eye pain and eye hemorrhage. Health Canada is contacting and collaborating with foreign regulatory agencies in reviewing the safety of sibutramine. Health Canada will communicate the results to the public and take further action if required.

I think I would want to tackle excess weight with just exercise and diet. Why take a chance of a stroke or eye hemorrhage? that just sounds too nasty to be worth it.

I was on meds for a year which resulted in my gaining about 50lbs. I have been spending the last 2 years working hard to lose it permanently with diet and exercise. It has not been easy, but it's going.

I am hesitant to take meds that are truly not necessary, but if your dr says that you should take this item, be sure you watch closely for odd sides and make sure that your dr monitors you.

Even wiki does not say much nice about it

Good luck but be careful. "

" Appetite suppresants can help you loose weight, but they don't keep you from gaining it right back as soon as you stop taking them. That is why the drug companies like them, you need to take them for life. Change your life and stop falling into their traps, like aspartame, Splenda, MSG, and high fructose corn syrup. HFCS suppresses the enzyme that tells you that you are full. Get rid of the things that are designed to make you over eat, and you will loose weight. "
