Journaling

It has been proven that people who keep a food diary have a 60% success rate than people who don't. It makes you accountable for what you put in your mouth. You will think twice about what you eat if you know you will have to write it down. It can also be a work-out diary as well.
I don't do it but know I should. Let's start a group of people that do. I have done it in the past and would give myself kudos for the work outs I did and the healthy eating. You can track emotional triggers for bingeing.
Who wants to try it with me?

" I journal my food every day and am completely honest with it. I am preop gastric surgery. I see a nutritionist regularly. I have found out I eat out of boredom. I would be willing to join you. Let me know how it will work. "

" Let's do it! I keep a notebook with me all day, so it would be easy to transfer the info in here every evening! I'll just put it in my journal. It's a good idea to note What, How Much, Calories consumed (or carbs or fats or whatever you're watching), and Time you consumed each thing -- as well as any obvious triggers other than true hunger. It works for me when I keep at it! "

" If you track calories, it really helps you notice and control serving sizes, too. "

" I've been keeping a journal for about 10 days now (just started a healthy food plan). I will try to keep going with it because it REALLY helps me. It makes you so conscious of what you are eating and how much of it, it made me realize that I was always eating A LOT MORE than I needed to. I've cut my calorie intake by more than half since I've been keeping my journal, and I'm getting more than enough food, without being hungry.

Definitely the smartest move I've made in a LONG time... Not only do I keep track of what I eat in my journal, which I carry with me everywhere, but at the end of the day I add it all up on www.thedailyplate.com. It allows you to count calories, keep track of them, and put in your exercises as well. It's a great tool.
