Food and the hold it has on me!

Ever think of food when your mind is supposed to be elsewhere? Having sex with the hubby but really thinking about what sounds good for a snack? Eat, then think, "o.k. now what sounds good?" Pay way too much attention to food tv and dig in your nightstand table for a snack? Well, that's me. Sometimes I think food means more to me than just about anything. Sick.

" I don't know whether this would help but I bought a big jar of diabetic boiled sweets. There's no sugar so they're kind to teeth. Dad's the diabetic one but I'm helping myself anyway. ;-) Here's the link:-

Best of luck. "

" It's no surprise that food has "such a hold" on us. Hunger is the #1 human drive. Ahead of sex even, which is #2.

Giving up excess food is more difficult than giving up smoking or drinking or drugs. So don't be too hard on yourself. Just try to keep healthy food around. Then when you get hungry, you'll eat something that helps your body rather than hurts it. "

" DW54, you totally just described me. I've always had food on teh brain but it's gotten out of control since I've been on prednisone, a couple of years now. I seem to be more and more food driven. I've gained about 55 lbs. and no longer resemble myself. It's such an out of control feeling/issue, maybe it really is a sickness. At least I know I"m not alone. I'm no where's near ready to diet. I have to get a handle on the food obsession.

I just checked into this group to see if there are any suggestions besides eating fruits and veggies. It's just not that simple when you are struggling to gain control of your life. I don't like many fruits and they don't agree with me. I do like veggies though. Someday I hope to beat this and I hope you do too. "

" Yeah, it really does help to know there are others out there with the same problem. I have stocked up on pretzels, and healthy snacks, am trying to be more active, and when I read(my bad time to munch) I'm grabbing portions of the snacks instead of blindly eating as much as I can. "
