I have had weight problems since my mid to late teens, I am now 23. at 19 years old I weighed about 310 lbs maybe a bit more. at 20 I started losing weight, it was not easy at all. by 23 I stopped losing at about 198 lbs, I continued doing what I did to lose weight but it wouldn't budge. My brother is a health and exercise/weight lifting buff and he suggested working out at the gym 20 minutes - 1 hour a day and setting my cal intake at 1,000 cals a day. I was intaking about 800 before that because my body wouldn't budge any with higher cal intake than that. I didn't lose any weight with what my brother suggested. So I went back to what I was doing before and nothing with hat either. I am a vegetarian, so I don't eat saturated fats, or trans fats, like there is in lots of meats. I eat veggies, fruit, brown rice, nuts, beans, tofu, etc. (I generally don't eat eggs or dairy, but I do now and again). Could someone help me? I'm around 5'8'-5'9' and at around 198. I have my Rheumatologist on me to continue losing weight until down to 150, but I don't think he realizes how hard this is, and that I can't seem to get my weight loss to continue. My weight also effects my self esteem. Can someone help me? or advise me, please. I'd very much appreciate it.

My first thoughts were that you have reached a plateau, and also, your body has adapted.
Our bodies don't want to lose, and they adapt to whatever we are doing to lose. Any type of exercises you are doing, change it up constantly; keep your body guessing and you will see a change in your results. Also, with your diet, it could be that you are eating too little for too long, so your body is hoarding the fat and fighting back. It's often consume less than you use, but not too low. Think about increasing your exercising and change the routines. Do some HIIT and see if cardio intervals helps you to kick start the weight loss.

800 calories is not enough! You need more nutrician. Ask you doc for a referral to a nutritionist. While your waiting try a web site like Sparkpeople they have a calorie program you must be accurate about putting in everything you eat and the amount. You may be consuming more than you realize. Also it will calculate how much protein , fat etc and tell you what your lacking. I set mine up to see how much calcium I was getting and was really shocked. so I adjusted my diet to help my bones. Many people stop loosing because their bodies think you are starving so you hoard fat to protect itself. Eat 6 to 8 times a day smaller meals that may let your body know its okay to lose!
