In the past couple of years I have been dealing with my boyfriends addictions to heroin. During the last 2 years I have lost and gained weight and lost and gained weight. This has all been from either not eating enough or from eating too much. My boyfriend is currently in rehab and I feel that it is time to take care of myself and my own problems. I am just here for some support. Does anyone have any advice when it comes to exercising. How do you motivate yourself to get to the gym at least 5 days a week. I am just looking for a little consistency from myself. How do I make myself just as important or as much of a priority like I have made others?

It took me a full month to get into my groove. The way your body looks has to mean more to you than saying "awww forget it, I"ll do it tomorrow." I love doing things that make me "feel" like I have burned off fat(running, biking, hiking-kick my a$$) and then after a few days, if you're with a good portion control diet and low in fat/carbs then you'll see results. Those are the best motivators. After 21 days you will. That is what will make you more amped to keep going because you remember all that you went through just to get to that point.
I am at a point now where my confidence in my body and looking good is more important than how good that food tastes! I also put up pics in my bathroom of women with really nice bodies. You're there in the mirror everday and then you see them like "damn!" Good motivator too for me. Another thing is be around people who are fit and look nice, it makes you motivated too.

For me, in pretty sorry shape, I am following a good friend's example. About 10 yrs ago she picked up a simple treadmill, and committed to walking 5 minutes a day, every day...that's it! A small, manageable baby step toward her quest for improved health.
This weekend, my friend tells me she's running a 5K race. She teaches 'spin' at a local gym, works out a minimum of 5 days/week. My downfall has always been that I start out with goals just too much for me, I give up when it proves to be more than I can handle. So now I'm taking an easy walk around my block once a day...because I'm so slow it takes about 10 minutes. Also for inspiration, I'm enjoying other members' lists on the other discussion thread regarding goals. Best to you.
