I am just not motivated to change my lifestyle. I have gained a good 50 pounds since I got married in 2007, and feel really bad about myself, I just have not been able to find enough motivation to get myself on track with healthy eating and exercise. It really upsets me since intellectually I know this is soemthing I have control over, yet I act like I have no power to control the wieght situation. My husband has started losing the weight and I just have not. I have tried Ali doesnt work for me. I think my biggest issue it that i really do not eat all day, then come hoime after work and eat a salad, and maybe a starch, just no balance. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated :)

" I don't think anyone can offer you anything that will convince you to improve your health because incentive MUST come from within.

All I can say is that if you want to have a family, it would be a good idea to get healthy. I don't think you want to go thru pregnancy with poor health and excess fat. All you have to do is search online for info on being overweight during pregnancy:
http://www.pregnancy-info.net/obes...

I am just guessing but I bet you want to live a long life with your family and a healthy life too, rather than a long, sick one including overweight, diabetes, and heart problems.

But like I said, your incentive must come from you, so start digging inside yourself to find that incentive. "

" I think I hear a glimmer of motivation from both Ritarita and wildstang.
Now you have to nurture that glimmer.

Make one change for the first week. Maybe eat breakfast everyday. This will help your metabolism emmensely! Next week in addition to the first change make one more change. Maybe no snacks after 6 pm but if you do they must be super healthy and 100 calories or less.
Now along with the small food changes you have to add exercise...each week along with the eating changes add one exercise change. Maybe walk 15 minutes a day. Next week increase the time or add 2 strength training days.

You get the idea. Start with small steps and soon you are on a journey...and the destination is a healthier and slimmer YOU! "

" Maybe your just not ready??? So we get bigger as we wait for the motivation to come. It is a big desision to change your life and sometimes we don't like change. It is comfortable in what we know. Sometimes painful to, but not enough to make the changes. It is also a commitment that does not end when the weight is off. If your not commited then the weight comes back, you blame the diet or you feel like a failure (again for most of us). I want to be normal. I don't want to count calories. I want to eat anything and everything that I want. I want to sit on my butt and relax in the evening. I might want pizza and beer or a glass of wine or two. Screw, working out everynight. I know that those that keep the weight off have to work out a hour everyday and they still only eat 1400 calories. Can I do that everyday? How about vacations and holidays? If I start to slip again will I get the motivation at 5 pounds, 10 pounds? Will I still be waiting for the motivation at 100 + pounds like I did this time. I am glad I found it. I hope I keep it. "

" I'm having the same problem. I actually enjoy eating healthy and exercise, but I have a hard time getting out of the house to do the latter. My fiance is also keeping me from sticking to being healthy. He is obese like me, but he is in complete denial. He thinks he's healthy as a horse and all this but he just doesn't get that the way he eats (it's really bad...) is going to KILL him! So when I try to cook a healthy dinner, he complains about it and will do something like put a ton of cheese on top of whatever it is and melt it on his food.
It's also terrible going grocery shopping with him cause he wants this and this and that oh and that too. When I tell him no he throws a fit and gets all pissed off at me and says we never get anything he wants, only what i want. So we are losing money on useless and unhealthy groceries. It's so hard to motivate myself, I feel like he's holding me back and I don't know what to do about it :(
