too tired to workout - advice?

For the past several years I've been pretty consistant with working out, though I've NEVER been one to workout hardcore. If I do 20 mins of moderate cardio 4 x's a week and lift a few weights throughout the week I've always looked pretty good..

I'm always a bit lazier in the winter, but lately, I can't get motivated to get off my butt to even function. I'm living like a person with depression. House is a mess. basic chores go undone. I've worked out 3 times in 9 weeks. My normally *decent* diet OUT THE FREAKIN WINDOW.

I dont even want to get off my butt to do anything on weekends. This isn't me. I'm not depressed. My life is going really well!

(I am hypothyroid, and will go back to get levels checked, but I'm on armour and my other hypo symptoms are doing really well) my periods are normal and so is my body temp.

I've already gained a few pounds and am not happy about it.

I will go to the doc but in the mean time... advice?

" I seems like you are connecting with your roommates depression.

First thought - new room mate

Second thought - clean the messy house and this will improve your mood. You know how much better you feel when window get cleaned!

When your mood is better you will want to get back to exercising! "

" I overdid my exercise big time right after Christmas and now I'm really paying for it. Injuries to different parts of my body has meant that I need to take a complete rest from it for a few months to let my body recover.

So I'm concentrating on eating properly in the mean time to keep my weight low so that when I resume exercise, I'm not trying to shift a load of fat off as well as getting my fitness back!

I suggest you do the same - eat well for a while with no pressure to go and work out. You'll soon find that you can't wait to get back down the gym "

" I think both Joyce and Rob gave good advice. Sometimes, motivation is hard to come by. When that happens, I'd bribe myself ("you can have [insert your favourite food] is you go"), and tell myself that it's ok if it's only going for 10 min - 10 min is better than no minutes, right? Once you get yourself there, you'd most likely workout for more than just 10 min, and you wouldn't want to ruin your good work by eating horribly =] "

" Ugh! I know just how you feel, but unfortunately, the only way to get back in gear is to just do it. I agree with JoyceMarilyn. Start by cleaning up the joint. It can be very helpful in tidying up the inner mess too!
I don't know where you live, but if the weather is decent enough for a walk, do that. Keep it simple and walk for 10 minutes and turn around and walk back. It's 20 minutes that doesn't seem like a big deal.
I know that it sounds simple, but you still have to make the first step to do it and that's always the hardest part. I always have to ask myself if it's worth not doing it and feeling like crap. It never is. "
