Advice:
Need healthy recipes for my kids please.......

During the process of this ugly divorce my kids packed on major weight and shame on me I was so depressed I shouldn't have let it happen. I had a problem with my weight as a child and lost it doing aerobics. But my kids are not going to do aerobics.

I would appreciate it if any of you have recipe ideas to help my kids get their self esteem back.

My son used to play basketball and now he just wants to sit all day and binges at night. My daughter doesn't mind doing exercises but she also binges (not sure when she is doing her over eating). I bought them a Wii fit but they sit down and do it? Help

I know they need to move it to lose it, but I need some sneaky ways to get healthy food in them. I don't buy anything with sugar in it.

I provide sugar free candy but the bowl is empty by the next morning. Tried sugar free pudding & Jello. They do like fruits. They want their veggies covered in butter (any spices that would help).

My son has the bigger weight issue. He loves strawberries, bananas, fish, flavored rice (not sure those premade rice packs are very healthy). His two main problem foods are bread & milk. I started buying frozen bread & powdered milk but he watched me and learned to bake & mix his own!

I'm sorry this post is so long but I really need help. My parents didn't do so great teaching me how to eat right and all these easy made meals arent helping.

Thanks in advance for any help. I'm headed off to college now and have to go to the grocery store this evening. I will check back to see if anyone has thrown me a life vest :0)

" You didn't say what ages your children are.

Can you get them involved with the shopping & cooking?
Find some fun activities to get them moving without them realizing they are exercising.
When you go shopping and whether they are with you (or not) park far from the door. If there are 2 entrances to the store - park by the 'wrong' door so they have to walk farther. I use this on Hubby all the time. He hasn't caught on yet. He just thinks I am a dumb broad that doesn't know where to park! HEHE. Joke is on him.
I would not put the candy out there even if it is sugar free. Make them earn it! Don't bring the junk in to your home. Reward them with a special treat when you all do good. Make it like in the military, if someone screws up all pay the penalty, if all do good everyone gets a reward. I believe in tough love. "

" if they are kids...and not like 16/17 teenagers ect...they will still need extra foods that you dont nessasraily need...ie...fats. milk is good for anybody...how about trying semi skimmed and not full fat. bread again isnt bad....swap to wholemeal rather than white though. also if your kids will only eat white bread...there are loafs that are best of both...look like white, but all goodness of wholemeal.
do they have pack lunches when at school??? could be loads of things you can do there...cuz you are in control of what goes in it.
also if they at age where they have there own money...limit what you give them....or say one day a week they can have little to buy sweets/candy what they want...but other times you keep and spend with them...so again you in morn control of their spending and hopefully binge eating then.
i dont know if you do already...but if not do weekly rather than monthly food shopping....less junk food will be in the house then.
you need to get active with them...im the same with the wii...most of it can do sitting down...so im going to do it sitting down. Are there any classes.clubs they would like to join...let them chose...let them express themselves....find what they enjoy....will be motivating for them to keep going if they enjoy it. Do you have family sessions of anything near you?? near me there is a family karate class for all ages and levels, and also family swimming. Maybe walking to get them to and from school if possible. going for a walk same time every day say before dinner.
all children need enough rest and sleep...keep to a routine...make sure they get enough sleep to keep their energy up all through day.
Also make sure they have 3 meals a day...including breakfast, and 2 healthy snacks a day. fruit....go for what you know they like. "
