Hi everyone,
I am trying to loose guite a lot of weight in the next year an a half and would like to know some good methods that you know to work out with. Keep in mind that going to the gym is not really a good answer since all I can really do is work on weights. Most of the treadmills really don't like me...I'm thinking about getting an excercise bike since I'm a little uneasy about working out in public. Posted on 01/07/09, 06:01 am |

If you do get a exercise bike get a good one or you more than likely will not like it. And if you do not like it you will not use it.
I have a Schwin Airdyne and love it. Yesterday I bought resistance bands (under $10) and I think they are going to be great. There are lots of exercise videos - Walk away the Pounds, is one that comes to mind. Sparkpeople.com has lots of exercise videos and great advice. Hope this is some help.

I work out in my basement, walk the perimeter, i get in about 8000 steps with morning and evening workouts along with the mom thing during the day, one day i was over 11000 steps. and they aren't mall strolling steps the speed is about 3.5/4 miles. RESISTANCE TRAINING ESSENTIAL. the more muscle you build, the more calories and fat you burn, muscles burns when you just sit. :) i am learning to not judge by the scale, but by the way clothes fit and the way my body looks, remember toning and losing inches changes your shape, not necessarily the scale. you are making the right choice and remember it's a lifestyle change, something you do to better your life!!! GO!!!

This is a great post! My daughter just joined a guy and she is uncomfortable to work out in front of others. It is going to be a problem. How can I get her more motivated? I think that the resistance bands are a great Idea and I will buy them at CVS tomorrow. Thanks!
Now. I wank the dog in the AM FAST! As fast as I can go and don't let him stop and smell stuff. This amounts to a lot of walking. At this point, that is all that I can do, but the Bands, they sound great!!!! I can't wait to try that! Because I am limited, even in how overheated I get,

I do the stationary bike for at least 25 minutes at gym. I was once nervous about working out in public. What I did was to do my own research on strength training. I developed my own plan and keep both an exercise journal and a food diary. After the research, I could at least look I knew what I was doing. Also, try an eliptical machine. They are easy. I have Cerabal Palsy and I can do an eliptical and know I am not afraid of the gym. The eliptical burns more calories than a bike.

You should concentrate on working out in a method that doesn't cause you to be out of breath. When you're working out and out of breath, it usually means you're burning carbs instead of fat. Workout with something like a treadmill, or try to do 30 minutes of walking twice a day.
Are you also combining this workout program with a diet program? If so, let me know and I'll recommend a good diet program. My wife is currently using a new diet program she found a few weeks ago and she's VERY happy with it. James
