Health experts have long touted the health benefits of following the so-called "Mediterranean diet," but new research suggests it may also cut the risk of depression.

Researchers with the University of Navarra in Spain said in a statement that the lifetime prevalence of mental disorders is lower in Mediterranean countries than in northern European countries. Diet could be one of the main explanations, they said.

" I have ate the Mediterranean diet for years. Its easy to stick too. I have been reading Dr. Barry Sears book on Toxic Fat. He says getting fat is not are fault. He blames it on a perfect storm in the foods we now have. bad cheap fats, refined foods and low omega 3. We had healthy fat but now it is toxic fat like a tumor. This imbalance can cause depression. I wonder how many of us had depression before we got fat?? This causes out bodies to have silent inflammation. Olive oil, and nuts and all the rich in the Mediterranean diet fights inflammation. Its also low in Arachidonic acid (red meat, organ meats and egg yolk) . Red meat is limited to once a month. Chicken once a week. The Zone diet is a little different. It took from what they new about the Mediterranean Diet and made food like a drug to fight the silent inflammation that causes toxic fat. Silent inflammation cause chronic disease like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer's.

If interested you can read the book on line below. I bought my copy cheap on E-bay brand new.

" I did this diet for years. My BP went way down, my Cholesterol ratio dropped, and my weight dropped... and I had tons of energy.

This is the "only" diet! It is how man was meant to eat if he wants a long life. "
