This book I have been
reading, Secrets Of A Former Fat Girl, is an amazing read. My sister in law told me about it, and man I'm glad she did!
It isn't another diet book. It is actually more of a motivational book that offers great tips, suggestions, and ideas. The author was a girl who was "Fat" all of her life. She shares all of the embarrassing moments of her past and her insecurities. Apparently, one day, she came to the realization that she wanted to change her life for the better. Now she is in amazing shape and very healthy and athletic; or as she describes it, a "Former Fat Girl".
She, like most of us, realized that she needed a change in her life. It wasn't a fad "miracle diet" or anything like that; it was just minor then to more major lifestyle changes that make a huge difference. She also uses this book to address one of the first steps that we need to take before changing our lives; the most important step that every diet book seems to
leave out. The most important thing to conquer is ourselves. Things like low self esteem and self doubt will always hold us back.
I say again, this is not a "diet book". It is a motivational book with loads of tips and recommendations to help us on our long journey to better health. I seriously have a hard time putting it down. So many things that she addresses about the "Fat Girl" attitudes and inner feelings have been unbelievable y accurate to me and many others. She knows because she was one of us. And if she was able to do it, than so can we!
I know I sound like and advertisement, but it is because I feel so strongly about this book. So, I don't recommend that you go out and buy it simply based on what I say here; but I do recommend
reading a bit at the book store to see what you think or even check it out at your local Library. I
hope that it helps some of you the way that it has been helping me.
