rash on fingers

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced what I've been for the past month. My fingertips and the area around my cuticles are red and painful (itchy sometimes too) My fingertips especially are so sensitive to the touch my hands are basically useless. It's pretty hard even to type this! I do have neuropathy and raynauds(I have lupus too) but I've never experienced anything like this. Two doctors have said it was the neuropathy and raynauds and they prescribed nitro paste and cortisone cream but nothing has helped. I'm going to a new dermatologist but I don't have much faith that he's going to have any answeres.
If anyone has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dale Posted on 09/27/09, 12:09 am |

I do not want to cause you to be alarmed but keep a very close watch on this even if the Dr's do not seem too concerned.
How long have you been on dialyisis? And do you have numbess and tingling in those fingers and hands as well? The reason I am going to tell you this is that we went through similiar things with my Mother and we were told neuropathy, etc. as she was diabetic and on dialysis for four years. Granted she was older when she started treatments and already had other health issues. Her problem ended up being cirulatory. And you need to be very careful about that. Please be sure they check and make sure you are comfortable with what you are being told and do not let them just guess at it because you have other issues.

Gamgam.
I know I have circulatory problems - I have one arm that has such a bad blockage in it that they tried to stint it and couldn't. I have all kinds of vascular issues too. I've been very concerned because this problem is not going away (I'm able to type casue I have bandaides on every finger!) Sometimes when I can't even feel my left hand I get so scared that I'm going to lose my fingers because the blood flow is so poor. I know I need a definitive answer to this. I'm going to a new doctor on Mon and if I don't get the right answer I'm going to go to the Cleveland Clinic here in Florida. They've got a very good reputation and I don't feel like I have any options left. I'm a mess! Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to write. It's greatly appreciated. Take care Dale
