Advice:
understanding UF numbers on CCPD

We get UF numbers for 3 to 1575. Have numerous drain and high suction alarms. We are wondering if we have dad to dry and his body is absorbing the fluid at night. He does not have much swelling, just a little puffy at feet and ankles at night. We use heprin every 3rd night. We have tried every position we can think of. What works one night does not work the next. We are about to do our first PT/V the end of this week. His labs seem to be good. His BUN is elevated for a normal person but ok for a PD patient. Creatine level has dropped a bit since he started PD. The PD nurse told us a UF of 1000 is what they are looking for. But if this is the amount of excess fluid removed and he doesn't have much isn't that number high? We need some explaination but haven't had much luck with our nurse. She doesn't seem to understand our question as she as not answered it to our satisfaction. We will keep trying.
