Did you know, taking medications like Tylenol or others that contain acetaminophen can cause your blood sugar to spike? If you find it necessary to take a pain reliever, fever reducer or other medication that contains this substance, be sure to monitor your blood glucose extra carefully and report any changes to your doctor.

" I know that - we do not have tylenol in this country. We sue paracetamol which is the same thing and my dr says it does not increase the sugar levels as he has me on quite high doses for pain. "

" I was looking up info on Paracetamol because I was unfamiliar with it. But I found some interesting info. Apparently its a "FALSE" blood glucose "READING" that happens with these substances. When used, blood glucose meters inaccurately read blood sugar causing what appears to be a spike when in actuality it is not. So the danger is then not compensating additional insulin for this. Which is why it is necessary to consult with your doctor.

This is very similar to what my mother experiences with her dialysate. Only two meters available today can correctly read her blood sugar. "

" It is advised on most diabetic meds to NOT take aspirin - without the doctor's approval.
And it is more important to listen to your medical team - doing your own research than taking what others say and assuming that it is correct.
What works for me may well hurt you - and vice versa. "
