Happy Friday everyone!

So usually on Friday night or the weekends, my son and I will eat out. Sometimes I pick something up and bring it home and other times, we will go to a restaurant. Any recommendations on where to go? I know I can get grilled chicken or baked fish just about anywhere, just looking for different ideas.

Thanks everyone! TGIF!

" I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE mediterranean foods. We have a wonderful restaurant here that makes amazing hummus and tabouli! Great options for diabetics :)

As for eating out in general, try to get ahold of a menue and nutritional facts ahead of time. Most restaurants will supply you with this if you ask. Especially take out.

But cutting out filler carbs is the easiest way to manage dining out. For example, if you order a sandwich, take off at least one slice of the bread or bun. Ask for whole wheat rather than white. Go for non-breaded options. Remember the terms grilled, poached roasted and boiled offer the least fat and carbs. Add an extra veggie and eat them first so you fill up on the lower carbs first. Definitely stay away ffom the sodas and sugared drinks like premade lemonaids or iced teas etc. Soups and salads are usually a good option so long as you don't load up on the condiments and dressings.

Have you taken any nutrition classes? They will be really helpful in learning how to balance your diet. "
