We've been incorporating more vegetarian eating into our household lately. Today I ran across an article from Vegetarian Times Magazine that discussed the benefits of Aloe. I was suprised to read that a study was done and they found that 2 tablespoons of aloe gel lowered blood sugar levels by 44%. That's pretty shocking results! I never even thought about ingesting Aloe. I thought it was only for topical lesions and such.

The article can be found in their July/August issue magazine on page 30.

" Along with cinnamon,
gamma sylveste and, and and.....
Tried heaps of them, wasted tons of money which we could ill afford on so many "great" hopes for natural ways to "cure" this disease.
Don't have the time, the energy or the inclination to dig out the names of everything we have bought - the books, the herbs, the diets - all with the promise that they will "cure "you.
Well I still have diabetes.
I have been on meds - some 12 at last count all, no one after the other - and my doctor is reluctant to put me on insulin if he can avoid it. He has now put me on Daonil aka Glimel which I can tolerate and has just increased the dose - but still not low enough levels.

I do not find ANY of the natural products helpful - for me - in fact in the end the cinnamon ended up making me physically sick because of the amounts I had to take to even come close to lowering the levels. "

" Hath, yes I agree that natural remedy's can be costly at times. After all, there is no insurance to cover supplements and vitamins. But I do believe that holistic medicine works. I've seen the benefits time and time again. Certainly though, it's not for everyone. Which why I'm sure you put in the --for me-- emphasis. "

" Well we do not have insurance here like you do so that was never a consideration Sock.

No the emphasis on the "for me" was that I do not be sued over giving people advice on anything as I am not qualified to do so.
A disclaimer if you will.
All I can say about any med - drug prescribed to natural alternative one is how it did or didn't work for ME.
And that is all any of us should do unless you happened to be a trained doctor (as one of my friends is). "
